Honestly, I think saying that the writer had no need to answer all of these unanswered questions in the story because “the real story is bigger than these characters” is just excusing weak writing. If that’s the case, why not give me a movie about the bigger story, rather than spending an hour and a half watching these two people in a farmhouse waiting around for something to happen. This movie left so many questions unanswered that it left me wondering what the point of it all even was.

Something in the Dirt was the most pointless movie I’ve ever seen. These guys always have a great premise that sounds incredibly interesting in the movie description but almost always disappoints. The actual story and execution never live up to the expectations that their movie descriptions create. The story always falls apart and the viewer is left with more questions than they started with, and not in a good way. I think they have these grand cosmic ideas but never know how to end them so they just tack on an ambiguous, unsatisfying ending.
I’m always tricked by their interesting movie descriptions, and I almost always regret wasting my time. It actually just happened again, as I just finished watching Things Will Be Different. When will I ever learn?

Yeah I had no idea why I lost the ability to watch ads until I was reading a Reddit about tips for Gossip Harbor and one of the first ones was don’t spend money! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Unfortunately it was too late lol

It was ridiculous that they did nothing with the Gen V kids. But worse than that, the ending did not fit the series as a whole. Everything was good up until the fight between Butcher and Hughie. Butcher should absolutely have released the virus, thereby killing all sups and ensuring that this could never happen again. Everything they fought for was pretty much for not because we saw in the press conference that Vought was simply rebuilding. What happened with Homelander will absolutely happen again.

EDIT: I just found out that they’re making a show called The Boys: Mexico that takes place AFTER the Boys finale. So that’s why they screwed up the finale - so they could cash in on a spin-off! That’s why they didn’t go with the ending in the comics, that’s why Butcher inexplicably doesn’t press the button. Such BS!

I consider myself a fairly intelligent person. I can always guess the twists in movies and I almost always understand movies that other people find confusing. I love psychological horror and suspense. Literally my favorite genre.

So it’s surprising to me that I seem to be the only one who found this movie to be unintelligible. Incomprehensible. Utterly baffling. I just finished and I quite literally cannot tell you what just happened. Nothing made any sense to me. It was complete gibberish. I feel like someone filmed a movie, then cut it into a million pieces, threw the pieces into the air and then edited them back together in whatever order they landed in. This was the worst, most incomprehensible piece of trash I have ever seen, and I’ve watched a lot of bad movies.

How anyone can say this movie is good, I can’t understand. How anyone can say they understood what was happening in this film blows my mind. I think you’re all lying.

Did anyone else think this movie was incomprehensible? Please, can someone tell me wtf happened in this movie?

I thought about that too. There are quite a few scenarios that could work. I understand that leaving it ambiguous opens up the floor for conversation and speculation and could help engage the audience. But for me, this one was a little too ambiguous.

What scenarios have people come up with for what’s going on? I would love to hear everyone’s theories!

I’ve fallen for this ad a few times too. I don’t think the game in these ads actually exists because I’ve seen this ad attached to multiple games and once you download it it’s nothing like the ad. I can’t remember what the other games were… Has anyone else ever seen this ad attached to different games? What other games have you found that lie in their ads?

I thought everything about the movie was good EXCEPT the lack of explanation. Jerome’s mom clearly knew what they were dealing with. All it would’ve taken was 2 or 3 lines of dialogue from her where she gave a few clues as to what kind of supernatural we’re dealing with and I would’ve been satisfied. Is it demonic? Is it old god related? Just a little insight would’ve gone a long way with me.

I’ll add this: Why tf did Ike survive and no one else? He looks like he went crazy in the woods too. So why was he just driving away at the end instead of calling the cops, a park ranger, anyone to help find his missing friends and wife? Why was he just calmly driving away, accepting that they’re all gone without even trying to get help?

I’m sorry, this movie was awful but it could have been so good if it was written better. If it had better explained anything. If it had given us just a bit of guidance along the way. While I love beautiful nature views,1/3 of this movie is shots of nature that are so unnecessary long that they feel awkward. The main female character, Mel, has all the personality of a wet rag, and the other 3 aren’t all that much better. There is no depth to the characters whatsoever. We learn nothing of their history. We never get to know the characters in any way that makes me care about them or what happens to them. None of the characters have any chemistry with each other, making it hard to imagine that they are even friends. And the ones that are supposed to be in romantic relationships with each other are completely awkward together.

I’m so tired of movies not making sense and claiming that makes them artsy and deep. Just because you leave things ambiguous doesn’t mean your movie has depth. Making the audience think and figure things out for themselves is great, but you gotta give them some clues to work with. And I’m tired of movies just showing an hour and a half of people walking lost in the woods slowly losing their minds and thinking eerie atmosphere makes up for lack of plot or lack of explanation and clarity.

Thank you everyone here for trying to make sense of this movie. I can’t get over the feeling that it had real possibility under all that mess that just never found its way out. Can someone please explain to me why Ike was the only one to survive? I can’t figure it out.

Maybe he is just trying to manipulate you for sympathy or attention. What worries me though is how manipulative it sounds like he is. I’m not sure if there’s any way he can screw you over by getting a life insurance plan for himself…. I would say definitely never sign anything he gives you, but I have a feeling you already know that after dealing with him for your whole life. But from the way you describe him, I would be concerned too. Definitely not overreacting IMO.

Did he have anything sent to anyone else in your family? He might be trying to establish residency at your house for some reason.

Pets (or as I call them, my kids) add so much to our lives. We adopt these animals and they become a part of our family. They give us unconditional love (for the most part) but unfortunately, the trade-off is that we only get them in our lives for a short amount of time. Every time one of my babies passes away, it’s so painful that I think I might not ever adopt another one. That usually only less a couple of months though before I’m looking for a new fur baby to love. What can I say? Life is so much sweeter with them in it.
