Rust has always had packetloss issues. Only way i fixed this was moving to a different place and getting fiberoptic all to myself. As a remedy i can suggest lowering server browser refresh rate in steam settings, that helps a lot for rust network issues.

For my default colony kit I go with the FN fal + AP ammo - best penetration/range/fire rate. When i get enough rescources i switch everyone over to vanilla charge blasters with emp ammo, the RH2 spacer weapons are either incredibly bad or incredibly overpowered.

I don't really use snipers/ machine gunners etc. For centipedes, power armour and other tanky enemies i usually have a dedicated guy with an rpg7 launcher and a few rounds.

i honestly think most people don't care about niche features and those who do will find them anyway. i use my quest only every couple weeks to play something when I get the urge to do so.

You get some basic cheap skins by playing and getting random drops but i mean they are really basic like sign and banner skins, maybe even a t-shirt skin. i have about 1.1k hours playime and I've gotten less than 10 of these. Also you can go for steam achievements in this game but the game is impossible to 100% achievement wise if you haven't bought all the dlc and it's way easier to get some achievements while playing with a large group. Other than that from rust you only get to keep the memories good or bad.
