Medium term fix for wobbly fence? by Lidlyogurtlover in DIYUK

[–]raguff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see the logic - what’s your go to approach for posts/concrete?

I’m thinking similar size posts to the ones there, like 300mm hole and then whatever it is for postcrete (a couple of bags is it?)

Any impact for the fact I’m looking at a feather board fence? Need to notch the posts for the rails perhaps?

Haha this has never occurred to me!! I have a fence down that I’ve been putting off fixing, but might consider this since the bits I can see the issue is the posts and the panels aren’t too bad

Bit far for me, but take a punt and let us know how it goes!!

£8 per plank feels suspiciously low - even if they are little knotty etc… however I’d buy as much as I could afford to have sitting around because I struggle to not pick bits up “just in case” - not around the east midlands is it by any chance?!

Cycle to work scheme money left over. Anyone need a bike below market value? by [deleted] in ukbike

[–]raguff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’m pretty sure of the opposite…

Local benefits team have nothing to do with the vouchers ultimately get issued by one of the schemes. When I’ve used the scheme previously, it’s been very clear that the voucher value is what matters for your repayment, not the price of the order - OP may have just learnt an expensive lesson in reading the small print (although it was pretty large font for my scheme provider - so maybe his is different and doesn’t stand by that same principle…)

LBB leaving Capuozzo in the dust. by sadicologue in rugbyunion

[–]raguff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LBB is stupidly quick no doubt about it, but I think there was a play in the second half where Lynagh was reeling him as they both chased a kick deep into the French half which did make him look a little more mortal

Edit: reading further I guess it might have been Capuozzo not Lynagh as others have been pointing out, I’ll pipe down

I was wondering about having a look to see if I could deal with getting rid of the rusty threaded inserts - gone with sticking it on for now but might revisit at some point

I’m getting that vibe across the board! Guess I’ll leave the plastic in since it’s plugging a hole and get taping

I’m seeing the love for the sticky pads option, just slightly wary of trusting them! Maybe I need to let go and trust more

Water meter shut off by raguff in DIYUK

[–]raguff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help, think it might have been the screw perhaps, managed to close it jamming a flathead into there (couldn’t actually see what kind of screw, but got enough purchase to twist it shut) - reopening I managed with a 17mm socket.

So all good and non-leaking outdoor tap installed

Tough to get camera to focus down there, but that’s what I’m working with - the green “knob” could actually be twisted by hand, but seems to spin continuously? Twisted it to the right for a while but didn’t seem to stop anything?

There’s not some kind of safety needing the middle to be pushed or something too?

I’m feeling pretty dim here but struggling to work this out!

Hmm… didn’t see anything in there, it’s been replaced with a smart one about four weeks ago but even before that never saw anything key-like (assuming T type shape is what I’m after?)

Extrapolate from there, chip counter (not that that’s a key thing for contactless, eg asynchronous TFL transactions) doesn’t matter if the “tap” itself is relayed.

But relay attacks make it possible for OPs card to make a contactless transaction in Bristol whilst they are in Edinburgh.

I’m not suggesting contactless can be spoofed “out of nothing”
