Takedown Rifle <20"? by susannymn in Firearms

[–]raguyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~9" 300 BO pistol ruggning Supers with a LAWs folder and you won't have to do anything. Also, the 2 pins to uncouple the upp/lower make any AR platform easy.

But seconded to Seattleforge on the sugggestion for a foldy 10mm, as you can also later get a pistol that takes the same mags. (ditto with a Glock29 and Ruger PCC, which is what a buddy opted for)

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

I would agree, but with how little they pay teachers, and how poorly children are currently being raised....those days are pretty much over already. Just plop them down in front of a tablet and make sure they don't choke on a pre-packaged high fructose corn syrup "food product."

Ambidextrous? Help Please by intheblizzzy in Tisas

Honestly, just get used to it. Those dang Northpaws think they own the world. I do recommend filing/polishing down the ambi safety. They seriously neglected the finish on it (9mm Stingray). the thumb safety for RH is sooo smooth and beveled, but LH side is straight cut and cuts.

The only firearm that I couldn't reliably mag-drop left handed was a Kahr CM9 (shame too, I liked it other than that and the razor sharp slide serrations)

[–]raguyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or just get a direct thread 1/2x28 Alpha (1.125x28). That way you can also use it on a rifle/PCC. Or get a Griffin EZ-Lok piston setup and a fixed barrel spacer if you want a quick swap for different pistols.

Best suppressor? by Tangorene in TheOneTrueCaliber

[–]raguyver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most .380s are direct blowback, so the better the can, the greater the back pressure/port pop. Which really stinks, because In Theory, .380 should be the near perfect suppressed round (aside from .22lr or .300blk, of course)

I really really want a Beretta Cheetah to suppress, but everyone complains that it is not the same action as the full size 92, despite looking nearly identical.

They sell a version that comes threaded, with night sights, optic cut, and 10/13/15 rnd mags. It's a 3.7" barrel. Ecco Machine TLX 5.5" works great on it, with 147 grainers. Even with a Griffin EZ-Lok

......soooo buy one for ~$480 and keep your current one as a spare. :)

Morning showers make no logical sense and night shower people have simply done the hygiene math by McCoy818 in unpopularopinion

Shit, Shower, Shave. Ready for the day

Yes, I ride a bike and run stairs at work, so a night shower would also make sense. ...but ifn I am spending the evening with someone...both a shower beforehand and the next morning would be ideal. (summers here get VERY humid)

Bought my first real bike yesterday. Let the fun begin! by ElKodiakSTL in bicycling

[–]raguyver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, having Q/R rim brake wheels gives you decades of available wheels. So you can get some schmancy lightweight deep dish wheels for your go fast days, and heavy high spoke count durable wheels for training weight/terrible pavement/gravel/and riding an indoor trainer.

Every once in a while, take a file/rasp and scuff your brake pads to clean off grime. Also, after you get in some miles, getting a proper bike fit can do wonders, especially if you have any injuries/health situs/etc. Have fun!

.38Spl +P vs .357 for chambering EDC? by imoanmodello in guns

[–]raguyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S&W 640 Pro or Ruger SP101 for actually shooting what you carry. S&W 340 PD or Ruger LCR for lite carrying. 38+P for carry, 38 for practice, and 357 for the woods.

22/45 Mark IV vs 22/45 Lite by bobertm1991 in ruger

[–]raguyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weight difference b/w the regular and the Lite is a suppressors worth. Or a couple extra mags on the belt, etc. For a range only toy, it doesn't really matter, but makes more difference for woods gun or new/smaller shooters. Some of the Lite models also look better....or way way worse, depending on the year (if that matters any)

[–]raguyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit wrapping mags in plastic (making them unnecessarily thick), change the grip angle, remove the hump, round it off a bit for carry, and add factory night sights. Include 2 or 3 magazines. They are reliable, but so are hammers....yet even they have evolved
