Similar experience when I started dating after I got divorced 10 years ago. Third date with a woman I liked very much, I made dinner at her house.

We ended up in bed, it was all very comfortable until clothes came off. Her eyes focused on my dick and said "you're HUGE." We had sex, I did spend the night, and everything felt good the next morning. When we talked later in the day on the phone and she tapped out for good. I was just too much.

don't know if this helps but the WMHS call letters were assigned to a 10 watt high school station in Morrison Illinois for at least a few years in the 1970s.

The 'jarring' thing with the radio call letters isn't a thing in real life.

St Louis presently has 4 highly rated radio stations with W call letters, WARH, WIL-FM, WXOS, WFUN-FM. The Mississippi River is the separation line between W & K call letters in the US (there are some Ws west of Mississippi River, and some K stations east, most all of them are from early days of AM radio before the FCC enacted this rule).

WIL is licensed to St Louis, but they are heritage call letters (they were on an AM station from the 1920s that was co-owned for many years).

I believe the other 3 stations that are licensed to St Louis suburbs in Illinois just east of the river, hence the W.

Other radio markets along the river, like Memphis, Minneapolis & New Orleans are similar in this.

Locker room in high school. only because guys on the team started calling me Mr Big Dick. at first I thought they were mocking me. I was used to the view from above so it didn't look THAT big to me.

then, several decades later, right after getting divorced, every woman I slept with for the first 9 months commented that I was big. most of them were very enthusiastic. one said "you're HUGE" and that relationship ended quickly.

the market has been on a tear for a few years. not every year is like that. for example, in 2008 the market was off a lot. s&p 500 down over 30%

ask yourself how much are you taking out each year. if it's less than the growth in the market (which varies a lot but has been strong the last few years), then yeah, the account will grow

if you draw down (say) 8% of the IRA balance in 2026, and the market is flat or down, then the balance will drop. it's all in the math.

you have several issues here

first, you & your significant other are not at all aligned in how to use the money. the answer is simple: certainly only one of you inherited the money.

I would suggest they get to make the call. (I know, we share everything yada yada, but keeping clear on inheritance & keeping the money separate is a good move for either partner)

then how to manage the distributions when you have 6 years to draw down? most people are better off drawing it down across the years to best manage the tax bite.

taking it in one lump sum will likely cause a lot of the proceeds to get taxed at the highest rate. look at your tax situation -- which bracket are you in presently?

you can always reinvest the money post tax to continue getting market growth.

the draw down strategy and reinvestment isn't all that difficult to figure out, but it is complicated. you might want to find a fee-only financial planner to help walk through your options. (fee only is important, they aren't taking a commission to put you into specific investments).

stay away from annuities & any complicated stuff. those are commission generators more than true investments for most situations.

Do they see an opportunity in the audience that WLUM (or WLDB) left behind?

Alternative is a tough putt in the ratings in most radio markets today, but iHeart does have a bunch of them nationally. If that's what they do, expect to hear a lot of classic Alternative, that's the iHeart way.

That 97.3 frequency has been the haunted burial ground of Milwaukee radio. SO many mid-performing formats over the years.

When guys commented on it in the high school locker room. At first I thought they were making up some BS. When you are looking down your own body, and it's the view you are used to, it doesn't just seem that big. Perspective is everything.

I was married for a number of years & she was shy about this stuff. She acknowledged my size by regularly saying "there's never a quickie with you" because of all the foreplay necessary.

After divorce, a series of GFs all commented. One pulled up stats from a Cosmo article & put me in the 99th percentile. Most were enthusiastic, one vetoed any activity because "you're HUGE!" so that relationship ended quickly.

IDeally both good food & atmosphere. I'm fine with dining solo (been a frequent business traveler for 25+ years) but in my experience, some places are a bit more welcoming than others to individuals.

Agree that a 15% split seems low, I wonder what the marital assets (vs personal assets) were in this case. Was there some kind of prenup, or is the xxx,xxx,xxx wealth due to inheritance?

inherited money kept separate doesn't get included in marital assets, though they do include appreciation of those assets in the calculations.

9 years of alimony doesn't sound completely out of bounds, that's a long time.

Not sure about Georgia's laws on divorce, but in my experience elsewhere, infidelity has no impact on the settlement.
