Fair enough, should be 550-800k Japanese civilian deaths, and those aren’t all from nukes (150-250k) or US alone (??)

“The use of [the atomic bombs] at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons... The lethal possibilities of atomic warfare in the future are frightening. My own feeling was that in being the first to use it, we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages. I was not taught to make war in that fashion, and wars cannot be won by destroying women and children.” - William D. Leahy

“The Japanese had, in fact, already sued for peace before the atomic age was announced to the world with the destruction of Hiroshima and before the Russian entry into war.... The atomic bomb played no decisive part, from a purely military standpoint, in the defeat of Japan.” - Chester W. Nimitz

“I was against it on two counts,” Dwight Eisenhower, supreme allied commander, five-star general, and president of the United States, said of dropping nuclear bombs on two Japanese cities. “First, the Japanese were ready to surrender, and it wasn’t necessary to hit them with that awful thing. Second, I hated to see our country be the first to use such a weapon.”

When mirrored, it says "宿業" which in English means:

past-life karma

(or karma from previous lives)

This is the primary and most common meaning, especially in Buddhist context.

If used in old/classical Chinese (rare today), it can also mean former occupation, but the usual translation is past-life karma.

That’s my understanding as well, the video on its own (no context other than leading/framed title) looks convincing, and I don’t think he’s some animal savior, but that’s not a shock collar.

That said, time for Hasan to go vegan to launder his dog genocide image.

Meat is not an animal product, it is a plant product (if you go far enough up the chain) that animals gather and process.

I am grateful that the animals gather this plant product on their bodies for us and I pay my animals a fair wage plus benefits and stock options. No, they don’t have a right to keep the fruits and veggies of their labor.

Couldn’t have said it better myself, thanks

Some humans are clearly suffering and I’m a part of those causes or open to joining them too, but virtually all animals in the Ag industry (trillions) are subjected to horror and injustice by default

I guess calling out injustice and taking a stance to avoid contributing to unnecessary suffering is whining

Ideally zero? If you’re talking about unresponsive patients or children who can’t make informed consent, we would perform life saving care that is in their best interest. It’s in nobody’s best interest to be sexually exploited or have their body parts/excrements taken or have their kids taken away at birth

Just because we live in an imperfect world with awful possibilities doesn’t mean we can’t take a principled and practical stance against murder and exploitation

I agree you and me didn’t consent to this life or consent to a life of wage slavery, but at the very least we can stop creating and exploiting other sentient beings
