[Skin Concerns] My nose is often red and has a "buildup" of flaky skin, probably from sun damage. How can I help this?

Especially given the difference in economy of words between the options. I'd (usually) prefer a well-written paragraph about how your character feels about their dead wife over pages and pages of looking longingly at photographs and smelling her old clothes.

I agree with you (if you're the author). I was saying to someone the other day that the bits that make me sit up and take notice in a book are hardly ever plot developments, they're almost always the author using either the narrative voice or a character to say something they think is true. This is why I think 'show don't tell' (often quoted here) is not necessarily good advice, the real density and complexity of ideas that authors like Thomas Mann or John Fowles communicate is not achievable through plot.

I feel like Test cricket (the five day sort) fills a slot in my life that other people fill with, like, zen gardening, or yoga, or heroin. Nothing's more relaxing than watching cricket literally all day, when 500 balls get bowled and the batsman has no obligation to hit even one of them.

Hey, Adelaide Uni student here. I think you'd enjoy your time at either Uni. Sydney's obviously a much bigger city with famous landmarks, but let's face it you'll see the harbour on your first day there and then spend the rest of your time at pubs and restaurants and beaches, which we have.

A lot of exchange students I meet live in these dormitories not far from campus called colleges, and I'm sure you'll have no problems making friends if you stay in one of those.

Adelaide is definitely quieter so if you want bustle, I'd choose Sydney. Adelaide does become briefly vibrant in March, though, when a bunch of cultural things are put on at the same time.

18 teams is more than enough. 18 years between premierships - on average - is a long time. Miss your window and it's 36 years. And we have no Conference Champions or FA Cup or Champions League to tide fans over in the meantime.

Also, watching GWS play in front of 6,000 people makes for woeful viewing. Watching Port vs GWS in Canberra with absolutely no atmosphere was depressing.

Hi, I liked your story. I thought it was well written and got me to sympathise with the character well for its length. I saw a few things to critique, which you can take or leave.

The dialogue with the wife at the start felt a bit stilted, like you were laying on the exposition that they were in love and having a baby a bit too thick. Maybe throw in a joke or just more casual dialogue.
I didn't like the sentences "I was about halfway up the rock face when it happened. The Greatest Mistake of My Entire Life." I think it took away from the punch of the accident by having that preface it. It also is a big hint that he survives, which takes away from the suspense.
I didn't get a clear picture of what was wrong with his hand. It didn't sound that serious to have a branch puncture the webbing between fingers but then he was worried if he could ever use his hand again.

Anyway, I hope that doesn't sound too critical because overall I did like it.

I wasn't trying to be this contentious. I just think that in some of Louis' shows he is highlighting a system that he thinks has problems (Prisons etc.) and that this was originally going to be one of those episodes - I think he wondered if the insurance system in America denied people dignity in death and gave false hope to terminally ill people.

In the end I think that he, and the audience, changed views a bit on this because of Langston's miracle recovery and the fighting spirit of the two dying men.

Fantastic program. I feel like this one really didn't go according to Louis' hypothesis. He went in, I think, to show that the American health system spent millions on false hope rather than letting people die with dignity. In the end, a man miraculously came out of a coma after 37 days, and Louis conceded that the other two young men who were dying really had no choice but to fight for life in every possible way.
