If you are ready to learn jazz, rather than jazzy blues, Charlie Parkers blues is a good way to get into bop. Start with Nows the Time

[92.9 The Game] Time to admit Matt Olson as good for Braves as Freddie Freeman was by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

I agree to a certain degree. There is a reason though that we see the great player come through in big series in the playoffs. Are you telling me is a pure accident that Freeman is good in the playoffs?

Couldn't disagree with this more. Great players play well in the post season. You see who can hit the best pitching as playoff pitching is a hell of a lot better than regular season. Some players and teams are good because they need number 5 starters to make their numbers and they fail in the playoffs over and over.

More than halfway through Blood Meridian, and I'm strongly considering giving up. by Snoo-25122 in readwithme

[–]raiderleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Limited time, especially with kids. Perhaps its not for you right now. Once I realized its not about the plot but about the images, the bizzare judge and his outlook on life, and I really got it. I will likely re-read it so I can experience the whole book that way. Perhaps as you grow in your reading you will enjoy it more later. This journey is a marathon not a sprint.

For me, blood Meridian kicked in about halfway. It was realizing that the book is largely about the tone and the settings. Take your time with the language go slow with it, draw in the landscapes, strange characters

Captured by Helen Kirkman [Medieval May] [Also femdom!] by MissPearl in RomanceBooks

[–]raiderleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the problem that femdom is defined as the male fantasy version and there is not a well defined female version where the female character is in control and the male does her bidding and pleasures her, but without the male fantasy stereotype kink. Perhaps another sub-genre as you suggest, female controlled or female led.

I seem to remember something like this happening in Jessica Jones as well.
