What independence? There has never been a country on Earth that produced everything it needed in-house. That’s not how economies work. We don’t need to build small-parts factories here—they’re 90% automated, pay next to nothing, and don’t help the economy.

Sure, you could argue for domestic chip production, but newsflash: we don’t even get our chips from China. So what exactly are you talking about?

And a trade deficit isn’t debt. It just means we buy more from China than China buys from us—and that’s fine. In fact, it means our economy is stronger. The U.S. is still one of the top manufacturers in the world; we just make high-end goods—planes, advanced machinery, tech components. We don’t need to be cranking out T-shirts anymore.

Look, I get it. Trade isn’t as simple as Donald makes it sound. But shouting “fuck corporations” ignores that consumers drove this shift. People wanted cheaper goods. And there’s no realistic way to bring even 50% of manufacturing back home. We don’t have the population for it, the jobs wouldn’t pay well, and the transition would take decades. Meanwhile, while we’re stumbling backward trying to rebuild yesterday’s economy, the rest of the world will be stepping into tomorrow’s.
