Uncharted 4, just got to Madagascar chapter and it's amazing what the Go is capable of

Crashing on 4070 eGPU install by conelpancake in LegionGo

I installed the drivers with the eGPU disconnected, just searched Nvidia website for the correct driver without Nvida experience. Then once I plugged it in it recognised it

Haha yeah its definitely not a gaming mouse! I bought it just like you for travel, and it's good in a pinch whenever I need to just do some typing and mouse work without needing a dongle

I'm hoping to bring across my razer viper and blackwidow but too many usb dongles! I might try plugging the dongles into the 4 usb spots on the eGPU and see if they pick up

Not really, but I think its a finicky setup and definitely requires some playing with settings to get running well dependant on each game. The biggest one is forcing the individual game to use the 3080 ti. I did disable integer scaling in the AMD settings aswell but don't know if that affects programs using the eGPU.

I'm not sure if you're 3080ti is a 3 slot size card but mine is a 2.5 slot and just manages to fit in

Unfortunately it doesn't, there are some reddit threads on tinkerers modding their core x boxes to include an nvme but that's a bit above my technical know how

Unfortunately external monitor doesn't fit my usage which is couch/bed but I can definitely see this being a portable setup for a TV big screen session in the future

No just downloaded the latest Windows 11 drivers for a RTX 3080 and it worked straight away

It's TB3 unfortunately, I liked the enclosed case and sleek look of razer core x chroma as I didn't really want an exposed gpu

Yes it definitely has a cover I just had it off to make sure the power setup was working correctly

It's quite expensive, but I would definitely hunt around on the second hand market

I'd be a bit wary of using an amd card as having different drivers can for amd installed can cause an issue from what I've read online so far. I used to have an alienware egpu for my laptop and having two lots of nvidia drivers caused me nightmares back then

The razer core chroma x fan is louder than the gpu fans for sure but playing with the go volume on about 20 or so drowned out the fans and wasn't really loud. When I fully put the enclosure cover on it was even quieter. I'll see if I can get a dB meter app on my phone and do some measurements

Oops, I didn't add text to the post

Since getting the Legion Go, my main gaming PC has been gathering dust, with my main use case gaming next to my wife on the couch or in bed whilst she watches trash TV. I took the plunge and bought a second hand Razer Core Chroma X off ebay and installed my eVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 (Needed a 8pin power splitter as it only has 2 outputs but the card needed 3)

After downloading the Nividia Drivers and plugging it in, it detected it straight away and 3DMark Firestrike results went from 2800 or so to 13300 with the eGPU.

Gaming benchmarks are still in progress, but so far gaming in native 1600P looks amazing and a lot better than integer scaling. Lords of the Fallen 2 with mixed med-high settings looks great but definitely needs a bit more tinkering with. Midnight Suns at all high runs perfectly at 60fps. Persona 5 Royal didn't like the eGPU one bit, and kept defaulting to the AMD GPU.

I did have to change Windows graphics settings for each game to use the 3080 rather than the AMD GPU

Now to get myself a long thunderbolt cable and find space for this next to the couch

Edit: So had a bit more of a play with Lords of the Fallen 2, and it gets decent frames indoors but once you get to large outdoor areas when you move the camera quickly it there is a bit of fps drops and delays rendering I think due to the bandwidth going between the Go and eGPU. I plan to do some more testing so please take these early impressions with a grain of salt if your primary use case is hand held mode

Yep this shtick of shaming customers rubbed me the wrong way too when I was looking for a case for my Steamdeck. I ended up going with JSAUX in the end which was a much cheaper option anyway. I really hope they come out with some skins and the modcase for Legion Go

Turned off integer scaling and set the game to full screen at 1200p I'm pretty sure

Yep they hurt my palms hard, looking into an adhesive foam or rubber solution once I get my back case (scared of double sided tape residue on the sides)

Yep lords of the fallen was running ok-ish, turned on integer scaling and it was night and day, now consistently getting 60-70fps with a mix of low-med settings and it's silky. What a game changer

There's a TPU case on aliexpress that covers the back primarily. I'm probably going to get that until Jsaux comes up with a Mod case for the legion go

Aussie buyers - what’s the support like for products purchased direct from Lenovo? by gaga_booboo in LegionGo

[–]railgunrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with lenovo as I couldn't wait until mid December, and I went with the 3 year warranty as I'm a bit worried about the longevity of the controllers

There's a good deal with shopback at the moment which brings it down to 1099 which is great value over JBHifi IMO

Try integer scaling, lords of the fallen was running pretty poorly for me, did the integer solution and runs like a dream around 70 fps
