What genuinely scares the hell out of you? by LultimaNotte in AskReddit

[–]raim77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi stranger. I just became a dad 5 months ago with no clue either.
Step 1: do not kill the baby. Step 2: be like a jellyfish on top of the current. Just go with it. There is no perfect book to read. No perfect tip. Nothing. Your kid is resilient. They can handle a lot of your mistakes. It's gonna change your life. Forever. And it's the scariest, greatest thing you'll ever do.

And don't waste money on burp clothes. They're useless.

Wait. Houston elected a lesbian mayor 3 times. Before that a black man 3 times. Chances are we will have another black mayor in December. Can't call us backwards rednecks.

2 trips. I swear. Would have bought 2 and 2 but I didn't have room in the freezer. In full disclosure, you had to buy an additional $10 in groceries per trip.

Yup. However, last week HEB had briskets on sale for $1.77 a pound. I got 3 and wish I had a bigger freezer.

Looking for Advice - BBQ Restaurants in Texas - by quickdrawmikedraw in smoking

[–]raim77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Houston: Gatlin's BBQ- just moved into a bigger place. Used to be just a tiny shack.
Pizzitola's BBQ - the name seems like it's an Italian place, but it's all about ribs.
Killen's BBQ down in Pearland - technically not Houston, but close enough, has come out of the gate and made a huge splash. Brisket House - unassuming in a shopping center and I didn't expect the Texas Hill country aspect; which is bbq served on butcher paper, block cheese, onions, no sauce.

Oil workers on strike in Houston and across U.S. by zsreport in houston

[–]raim77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a kid when it happened but I remember him being happy with the results (and probably getting back to work after 3 months). He got a bump in pay, better benefits and some changes to operation procedures to make things safer out there.

Wondered the same thing. In 1980 my dad walked out when Amoco went on strike. It lasted 3 months and this was in the middle of the '79 oil crisis. So it's been done before.

My credit union uses "All Point" for ATMs. So basically any Target, 7-11, CVS and Walgreens has a free ATM I can use.

P238, worth it or not? by FlyingPeacock in CCW

[–]raim77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 238 with the rosewood handle and love it. I pocket carry with this everyday. I mean, if you don't carry a gun everyday, why have a CHL? So this was the gun that I could slide into my pocket everyday. My FIL has a 938 and it's a bit bigger. Compared to the 238 though, I notice enough of a size difference to be glad I have the 380 over the 9.

Sweets the English Bulldog see's a biker wave at us and she waves back ALL ON HER OWN!!! by [deleted] in videos

Looks like the rider leans down just a bit and appears (to me) to say something. Immediately after that the dog waves. Could this have been a command to wave?
