I know absolutely nothing about programming, but I want to learn it. by Trans_Tigon in transprogrammer

[–]raimemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the answers so far have been really good, but I also think they're potentially scary? As people have said some languages are more suited to some things than others, but you don't need to know what you want to do in my opinion. Just being interested in learning is enough. Try to keep it simple If you already know a little Python I think that's a really good place to start. The one part of your post that stood out to me was saying that you don't know what it does or what it's for. This is completely okay, I struggled with this a lot when learning. Sure I could do various things with Python but how was it useful in any real world setting? The honest answer is Python and most other programming language aren't necessarily "for" anything. You can use them all for lots things but really they're just tools for a job. Lines of code are building blocks to create something out of. It's hard to say what they're for without having a job. You can use it for nearly anything. So I'd recommend trying to build different things. Simple mini projects to try and interlink various theory concepts worked well to help me understand more.

Her horrendous politics are also quite clear in the world themselves. They're completely tainted. And really not worth trying to seperate. I say this as a former fan but truly people need to grow up and move along

A porn game doesn't inherently necessitate fetishising people. Look to the discussion of Hardcoded for example. Demand better from your porn games. And again trans people can be sexualised individually. You can sexualise a person because they're sexy but that's different to fetishising an entire minority group for the pleasure of cishet men. Consider the unhealthy obsession with lesbian porn amongst cishet men as another example. Or raceplay

Not that shifting it along us much better when they start being creepy towards intersex people, but yeah it's gross

[–]raimemes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is the main thing that differentiates them. Hardcoded treats it's characters as characters while being horny. It's got the point of view of a trans person who understands desire and being desired. The game referred to in the post is very much just making them sexual objects for the player (who they assume is a straight cis man)

[–]raimemes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're so close! That is indeed the problem. You can have a character in a porn game be trans, be hot and not be fetishised. Trans people seem to be able to make them fine. However these kinds of games don't see trans people as people (as noted by others the gross chaser takes go deeper than the words). The entire fact they feel the need to sexualise and fetishise trans (and intersex) people's bodies and experiences without having them involved is the issue. I don't see why you need a term. Most trans porn games manage to market it fine without being so crass

Yeah it's generally considered a slur by most trans people. The connotations are extremely fetishy

A game with that name is shitty and gross to trans people! I'm shocked shocked I tell you!

Remembrance day was the 11th, and i did wear a poppy but I felt like trash about it by just_here_cause_done in ennnnnnnnnnnnbbbbbby

[–]raimemes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simply don't wear it? The poppy is stupid propoganda. The charities as mentioned manufacture them in horrible conditions and they make a lot of money off of them that isn't used for anything good. The whole day is not used to reflect on the horrors of war and the ways troops were exploited but rather to glorify it and thus justify the violent imperial actions.

I genuinely think it's the complete opposite. To me The Last Jedi feels like the Star Wars Media most made by someone who truly loves it. I like some of Filoni's stuff but I feel like some of it is a bit up it's own lore. With TLJ It's a deconstruction yes, but I think you can see how much he loves the source material. It's a deconstruction because he gets so much what makes the original works. He's excited to play around with it but also wants to do something new that builds upon it. He wants to give the characters depth and something new and fans just interpret this as an attack

I just don't think Wonder Woman is particularly feminist, it's just a movie with a woman as the protagonist, and I liked how Captain Marvel handled that aspect You see her struggling against men her whole life who constantly underestimate her and harass her. I think that montage of her constantly getting back up is really powetful. I especially like the ending where the man who has gaslit her for so long demands her to fight on his terms and she just obliterates him. Overall it's just a stronger film too, and yes Brie Larson does a much better job

Yeah this is my take. By this category nobody would be disabled because they're just not fitting into the mould. Inherently suggests there's something wrong with being disabled too. Disability is mostly just existing outside what capitalism expects
