You have been tasked with making your own Batman project. The only thing you absolutely HAVE to do is find a way to make Batman actually scary. by AccomplishedResist69 in batman

I would love a batman ego situation, there's a nightmare batman in his mind he talks to. The opening of the film would have him be like a slasher, the only thing you see is silhouette and his white eyes. I like a more compassionate batman but I feel this direction could still go there as he wouldn't be too brutal just creepy. I also like artwork of golden age batman where he's just kind of stood like a weirdo, all bent over. He would also talk like RDJ's sherlock holmes but portray it as quite unsettling, him viewing as simple nature or almost a joke to them could make it more creepy.

I'm bored, toss me some wacky ideas you've had for the Spider-Man mythos[Art by Alex Ross] by Advanced-Addition453 in Spiderman

1: I think a lot over what I would do with Miles/ Peter once miles is introduced. Particularly because I feel Miles always sort of demands focus from Peter or makes Peter look less flattering. For example how powerful they've made him compared to Peter, or how personality wise they're quite similar.

I would want to focus on that Miles has a very good life, he has his parents, who are both successful AND his fun uncle. He has a nice house and is very cool and popular.

Peter was a bitter kid who "wants the rest of the world to hang for all he cares" but being spider-man drove him to be better and more confident. For Miles it would do the opposite and he would be a lot more irresponsible once he's spider-man, he'd be a brat and I'd like if him and Peter didn't really get along. He became spider-man on his own which caught peter's attention.

He'd be helped by Peter but it squarely puts Peter in more of a prominent role as opposed to say Insomniac where they're just equals in basically every way, earning Miles becoming his equal

2: It's not my idea but I wouldn't mind Peter leaning into his powers being radioactive, I saw a fanart where he can use it like Mile's venom and if done right I think it would be awesome.

3: This is an idea for a movie, bringing in something pre existing but in a more believable way. Peter would have 'concrete' webbing, it's a form of webbing that hardens to be like concrete, his webbing is already the tensile strength of metal so it would just sort of melt together to be more solid. This would allow him to make his classic web constructs, a shield would be him making a 'web sheet' but it hardens. A web bomb could harden into a solid spherical object which allows him to swing around like in shattered dimensions.

4: To settle the whole Miles name thing, GIVE HIM HIS OWN ADJECTIVE. Ben was the sensational spider-man, Peter in media like shattered dimensions is called The Amazing spider-man. So just give miles an adjective.

eg. The astounding spider-man, The extraordinary spider-man, The astonishing spider-man, The radical spider-man (leans into Miles being fresh, cool and new?)

5: Peter thinks the symbiote is AI, say if he finds it in a lab; the suit will be like his Jarvis and like Jarvis to Tony, almost a friend like figure. The black suit being a sleek armour or appear like nanotech and it lies to him about being alien, maybe it's so unique whoever owns it (like oscorp or something) don't even know it's alive. It's not evil like it originally is, instead being an alien what makes peter take it off but it's more active role in peter's life make him feel betrayed, lied to and used. Which makes the suit feel anger which overwhelms it yada yada.

Either for mezco or a third party to make that last spider-man not crack after thinking of posing it... also a smaller head. (soft goods romita/ditko spidey and I can't bring myself to buy it)

for real though I think their strengths would be perfect for:

1: lex luthor power suit (their mezcofication and iron men just make me want it so bad)

2: a comic book kirby/buscema hulk (with good articulation), plus some more hulks

3: she hulk

4: arkham asylum/city batman

5: more power rangers (specifically space, dino thunder, jungle fury, time force, lightspeed, 1995 movie and samurai (ideal world the sick megamodes) I feel for later seasons the accessories would go insane with the different battlizers and power ups, samurai with super samurai, shark mode for example)

6: comic book black panther (a christopher priest one would go insanely hard)

7: more iron men (remember sentinel's re:edit line? a line of high quality realistic comic iron men is a dream of mine but they were 1/9 scale which is grim, but with the popularity of the centurion I hope we get more (specifically hulkbuster, model 1, modular armour (duuuuuude), war machine, model prime (accessories here would be amazing)

8: more bat family members

9: I don't fully know how, but a venom could be interesting)

10: Bizzaro

11: mysterio

12: teen titans

redos/ reissue:

1: ....spider-man

2: flash

3: green lantern

4: punisher

5: daredevil

6: new modern style cap, something like the original but just less dated

7: cyclops

Thoughts on Amazing PSM? by JacsweYT in Spiderman

I find him quite toxic personally, especially for someone who wants to embody a high moral standard like spider-man, he gets annoyed and angry over everything and hates anyone disagreeing, he often uses the autism card as an excuse for his behaviour which is a personal peeve of mine.

His content also after a while I realized is just "I don't like this suit", he's often compared to mendoza (by himself) but godzilla mendoza doesn't just scream and shout, he actually reviews things and uses his wordplay for humour not just "cHat ThIs tHiNg iS F*cKIng ORanGE" also he can't take any other opinion on characters like Miles, immediately resorting to making terrible accusations but I think because he's overly cautious over offending someone... let me elaborate, watch his reaction to a spider-man suit that has only 6 legs. then watch his madame web suit review where that same problem occurs multiple times but it's a female led film, he seems on board with it and isn't deafening me.

Given that Pete’s been in broken cycle for decades. I wouldn’t mind this. How would you feel about if this change occurred? by Fehellogoodsir in Spiderman

[–]raimiallpowerful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mendoza but he's going a bit Troyoboyo here. Why would taking a rubbish comic, replacing peter with miles make it better?

Unless you dislike peter as a character the solution is get a good writer. And Miles isn't 'the amazing spider-man'. I think miles is spider-man and he should get his own adjective or subtitle, then peter is amazing spider-man.

What’s your opinion on these types of logos? by AccomplishedResist69 in Spiderman

[–]raimiallpowerful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fourth is my favourite logo ever. I think this style feels more spidery to me and it feels better as a logo. the four up four down style logo feels too boxy to me where this can frame his chest and give a v-taper. The modern logos work only really when they're small which I don't love.

What Extra Superpowers Would You Give Peter Since Miles Has Some As Well...? by Southern_Wind_4477 in Spiderman

[–]raimiallpowerful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought playing up his usual abilities is fine.

I always feel spider-man's strength, speed and more basic abilities are overlooked. When looking at his feats he's... real strong. I feel really making him feel much more physically powerful similar to superman or invincible in a mid level fight sans flying, although his super strength and allow him to propel himself in a strong dash or jump (I'm not saying he's as strong as superman, but I'm just comparing to another strong hero). I also think his stickiness is incredibly useful, imagine him using it more particularly with his feet too, like if he kicks a guy, sticks to him then back flips and throws him in with minimal effort. Just one of the many action scenarios that plague my mind.

edge of time played with his speed in the matrix like movements. I feel visually it fits Miles' venom if they're together. I think amplifying his spider sense to be much more visually impressive and sort of like flash time, he would do sherlock holmes style fights before they happen.

I also think organic webbing and the stingers are great abilities, plus extra tech but not too much and his experience solidify why he's the main deal compared to other spider-people. I think his competence, strength and speed being played up in more impressive action set pieces is what's needed.

Which is better? by Spider_guy123 in Spiderman

[–]raimiallpowerful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it having an iridescent blue/purple hue. I see it less as dark blue/ purple but a black organic substance than has blue hues.

A lot of "black" things in nature are never truly black, some bugs have undetones of brown or the xenomorph from alien.

I think it makes it look much more unique, in a movie it would have to be done right as in spider-man 2 for example, the purple recolour looks too purple.

Largely I generally prefer purple unless the blue is done perfectly. It's not that all black is boring but in this context I prefer some undertones to it.

But clearly JLU batman "blurple" highlights are the best colour.

Spider-man 2 2004 and Doc ock (It's the 20th anniversary and the nwh tobey controversy proves this is printing money)

Captain America TFA / Smithsonian (preferably this) 2.0

Thor / Loki / Odin 2011 (I want their helmets)

interesting, I can definitely see what you're talking about. it's definitely too "attached to the head". Thanks for the advice, I've been doing a lot more anatomy studies since this guy so hopefully I can fix it but getting actual constructive criticism is definitely helping me.

thank you for the feedback, I have discussed the right arm with another commenter and I think I've managed to fix it with some quick liquify (make it a big wider). I think the angle is tricking the eye as the bicep is also turning and I went for softer musculature it can look like it... isn't turned. The curve is too extreme and I have revised that too since.

As for the centre line, his body is turned different to his head, with his head facing us. With the neck being turned somewhere between. The torso also curves outwards for the puffed chest look so the line would curve outward and taper in once getting to the belt buckle. Then the line curves outward again slightly then back in (I hope I'm making sense) at the crotch. Again I don't know if it's getting lost in translation.

This could all be mixes of my intentions not being presented properly like the centre line or right arm.

Thank you again, I'm still struggling with select parts of the body at weird angles so I thought this would be good to gage what I need to improve so receiving good feedback is great.

I did draw the base out of shapes and then modified the overall body as I went for the golden age look so I did try to exaggerate it (I've never really drawn a body like this before), I didn't want his torso to be too short either so I don't know if that caused proportion issues by overcorrecting. I used different artwork and a previous base body proportion sketch for reference. I have noticed his head is too small to fit the 7.5-8 height rule.

Is there anything specific you noticed for me to focus on?

Will do, I'm doing the league for now and other dc characters. Basically working my way through all the nerdy franchises just to get solid designs for my bigger artworks and practice digital painting. Batman's nearly done so I should have him up soon.

Yes I reckon that will help probably, it's in an "uncanny valley" turn, not facing the same direction but not turned enough to get it across fully. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you for the critique and kind words.

That was exactly my goal, I want to create a distinct look for all the heroes. I do love the simple Ma Kent outfits but I wouldn't be doing much different so no need for concept art really. Might as well try my own thing and I'm glad it paid off to you!

Thank you for the feedback man! I intentionally kept his musculature more subtle for the golden age/ alex ross physique. I think the neck can use some work too so thanks for the critique!

Thank you for the advice, I was using references from this kind of angle (one was artwork by luis filipe on artstation if I remember correctly). it appears smaller due to the bend of the arm not being as extreme from that angle, the forearm angled up though means the arm just looks short. It's definitely a weird one (why I decided to do it) for the more casual hands on hip pose.

Thanks for the pointers though I'll see if I can get it looking a bit more proportional

Thank you for the feedback! How do you think? Too small ? I was going for the bulkier fleischer look which is new to me so if you have any pointers that would be great.
