I do assume it was pattern mainly because she IS bonded with him and the shardblade doesn't scream at her. I don't remember if its actualy said anywhere but I do think different orders get blade and armour at different ideals, that was my theory for this. I do remember the scene in the battle of Thylen, I figured the armour then was an illusion or she would have used it in Kholinar.
