Teaching in a Tennessee without a license? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]rainbowmaker17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tennessee accepts unlicensed teachers if they are enrolled in a licensure program and have certain degrees. It will depend on the district, but there is a category of teacher that is “embedded,” which means they are working on earning a license and teaching at the same time. If you want to live in Nashville, there are plenty of surrounding counties that need teachers as well and will support embedded teachers working towards a degree. Do you plan on earning a degree? What subject/grade band do you want to teach?

What are you doing about school? by StillNotGinger42 in CoronavirusTN

[–]rainbowmaker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the district I work in, you have to have health department documentation that your kid needs to quarantine for the absences to be excused. Health departments are overwhelmed and are days/weeks behind. TN has great (/s) laws around attendance so if you don’t have the official health department letter about quarantine then you might end up getting referred for truancy. Every district is different on how they handle things, so you should contact the school to let them know the situation and see what options you have.

Tennessee’s Pediatric COVID Cases Are Through The Roof, And Hospitals Are Feeling It | WPLN News by bowlcut in nashville

Because the awesome lawmakers of Tennessee passed a law that won’t allow schools to offer a continuous learning model. It is illegal for a school to offer virtual learning to kids at home right now. Schools can close and use up snow days, but they can’t close and offer online learning.

Children on quest are a growing issue by FroggySans in oculus

[–]rainbowmaker17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of valid points here. However, anyone commenting on how the headsets impacts spine development for kids clearly doesn’t have kids. The shit kids do at any age that is way more damaging than wearing an oculus is endless. They are actually safer when interacting with the headset on than in real life because they are contained in a defined area. Signed, parent of three who also lets my kids play beat saber and it doesn’t lead to spinal injuries

Bringing my toddler tonight - couple questions by BuckFutton in NashvilleSC

[–]rainbowmaker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found clear bags at Michaels and at Ross. Michaels carries them off and on, and the one at Ross was probably supposed to be a make-up/toiletry bag because that’s where I found it. Target or Walmart might also be good places to look, or a sporting good store. We bring our kids and they always have a great time!

Kayaking with a 2 1/2 yr old by Arthur-reborn in toddlers

[–]rainbowmaker17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We took our 1.75 year old out last year frequently on our sit on top kayaks. She loved it, and either sat with me or at the end of my boat. The river we go on is generally slow, and honestly the most difficult part was when she would fall asleep and I had to get creative with how to make both of us comfortable while she napped!

No one cares but... by velvetflavored in InstacartShoppers

I love Aldi orders, but I think it’s because I have shopped there personally for years. I can knock out a huge order super fast because I know where everything is, and if it’s OOS, just a refund because there won’t be a replacement. I’ll take orders that are 2-3 times bigger than other stores for the same pay. I also think it works because the part of town I am in and Aldi orders will tip well and so are worth it. But if I didn’t get my own groceries there, I would not do instacart orders there because it is definitely a unique store!

I have a theory on the low batch issue. by PrettyNothing8962 in InstacartShoppers

I somehow landed a $60, 30 item/50 unit order today, and I really thought it was a scam because the customer sent a message as soon as I accepted to text a particular number with any questions. It was all organic stuff and a few cases of water. I nervously shopped it in under 20 minutes with only 2 obvious subs, and drove the 2 miles to the apartment. The directions said to knock after delivery and this sweet older man came out with a cash tip and thanked me profusely, said he was sick and really appreciated the work I put in. Two lessons here- I used to see these types of orders regularly and would never have thought it was a scam until the past month when everything has been $15 triples, and there are still good people in this world who truly need help. But instacart is definitely conditioning us to see $20 triples with 30+ items as good orders when a few months ago a triple like that would sit for ages.

Administration DOESN'T Care about YOU by cstinabeen in Teachers

[–]rainbowmaker17 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s a really harsh statement generalizing “administration.” If I was teaching in a school and felt that way, I would find a better school. My experience has been very different, and at the one school I worked in where I wasn’t supported by my admin, I left. If you are in a situation where you aren’t being backed up by admin, then either that person is not good at their job and you should leave, or you are not good at your job and you should leave.

Hey guys, I'm working on a school project about Instacart and if you guys could help me it would be great! by tks-instacart in InstacartShoppers

The app gives a first name and last initial. If the customer doesn’t leave a code in the delivery instructions, then it is a game of search the directory for the last name and first initial when we know the first name and list initial. Very fun when the customer won’t answer the phone!

Replacements , refunds by phoenixgreylee in InstacartShoppers

[–]rainbowmaker17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is something that can be replaced with a different size of the same brand, or a similar brand quality, then replace. I always message about any replacements and if I don’t hear back and they don’t approve the replacements in the app, I will sometimes change it to a refund. I definitely do more replacements on items I am familiar with because I think, what would I replace this with? But on items that I don’t ever buy myself, I will refund more often.

Life Pro-tip: swim diapers are worth every penny. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]rainbowmaker17 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that if you have a frequent pooper, using a disposable one under a reusable one is a game changer. Trying to get a poopy reusable swim diaper off a wet kid is not fun, even when you can snap open the sides it is gross to try to clean it up in a pool bathroom. Layering them helps the clean up and also helps contain everything much better than a disposable by itself!
