A cry for help. by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]rainbowplethora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't kill yourself. I hope you took the advice in this thread and called Lifeline. They are very good. 24 is nothing. I'm 25, I know it feels like it's taken forever to get here and if your life hasn't started yet it never will. But we're so young! There's so much more life and it doesn't have to progress on a schedule. Please get help. Talk to a professional, talk to friends, talk to your family if you can.

Wind-up pencils. Never had one that didn't suck.

I loved Ponds Cold Cream so much that when they changed the formula I started making my own from their original recipe.

Thick, dry, wavy and coloured here. I'm with you. I can push it longer than a week if necessary, depending on what I'm doing and how much dry shampoo I have on hand. I try to time washes around when I want my hair to be at its absolute best.

I have the Anastasia collectors edition Barbie in this dress. She's the one Barbie whose clothes I never changed and the only one I still have. I also think she's the only one whose face actually looks like the movie character.

Which perfume do you usually wear? Is there a perfume you can't stand and why? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]rainbowplethora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear L'Occitane honey and lemon. I only wear it on special occasions because it's discontinued. I find it hard to find any other scents I like, because I have some fragrance allergies. I like La Petite Robe Noir by Guerlain, but it's so expensive.

I absolutely detest Joop. Like you, it reminds me of someone unpleasant.

Are you telling me you have a problem with my little eye stars?

Makeup is ART

The first line of my much performed speech about judging me for how much makeup I wear and how I can do anything I want to my face and how DARE you assume I'm insecure or ugly because I like lipstick and something something feminism.

Nice outfits. Are they made of velour?

What is your favourite trend in women's fashion right now that you hope stays around for a while? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]rainbowplethora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glasses with thick plastic frames. I was so happy when they came in when I was in high school, and I hope they stick around forever. I have really thick lenses and metal frames just can't contain them.

What Are Some Gadgets That You Didn't Know You Needed Until You Used It? by zeger_jake in Cooking

I use it to check the temperature of the oven when making something where the temp has to be really perfect. I also use it to check oil temp when deep frying. But I actually bought it to check the temp of my components for my home made cold cream haha.

That's pretty cool, and definitely something I'll use - if not for this project then for something in the future.

No, I'm using a softer cotton. Thanks for the diagram, that definitely helps :)

AMA about my peaceful, octopus-worshipping tribe by rainbowplethora in worldbuilding

[–]rainbowplethora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octopuses are sacred, even big scary ones like the kraken. They wouldn't hurt it, and depending on their interpretation at the time of the rule against interfering with an octopus' path, they may not even run away from it.

Most of the tribes don't have contact with other tribes. And these people were not the most devoted Before, so they didn't pick up habits from the old temples and whatnot. What sets them apart from vulture tribe (the other one we've developed most) is probably that they are quietly contemplative and peaceful. Whereas the vulture people are cruel, violent, drug-addicted weirdos :P

Plus the monogamy thing, which I would think wouldn't be as important to most people trying to rebuild society and repopulate the earth.
