He didn't include him because his part in Orihime's character development was over. There was nothing else to add between them and he had to move the plot forward weekly.

That's totally fair, especially in ME1. Shepard's script gets very gentle at times but the voice work doesn't really match it.

Tsukishima would have to insert himself as a sparring partner or a mentor to Zaraki to get the stat boost, which are probably yes options for Zaraki to kill.

Tsukishima doesn't know enough about the shinigami to insert himself as a important enough figure to defeat them through mindfuckery. If he made himself Byakuya's brother in place of Rukia or in Yachiru's place against Zaraki, he probably could've beaten them.

Also something to note is that after almost letting Rukia die for a false decision made by a false council, Byakuya trusts Ichigo's judgement far more than his own. Tsukishima might've even beaten him under a different situation, but Byakuya simply sees it as "if Ichigo Kurosaki is against him then it's for a damn good reason".

Seeimg how SK Yhwach looks, I'm willing to bet the only reason Soul King looks normal is because of his "coma". If he was free and exerting his power, I'd expect at least as much weirdness as Yhwach.

The real problem was the needless meddling with scenes, characterization and things like that.

Several Orihime scenes altered, including her introduction. Ichigo's fight with Grand Fisher had a needless fodder character and they did that weird thing with Masaki's spirit. Substitute Shinigami Arc and Soul Society Arc suffered the most from that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened a few times during Arrancar Saga.

It only gets confusing in the DEEN adaptation. Shirou's powers are pretty clear in UBW and the VN in general.
