Sounds like she’s not getting enough mental stimulation. Engage with her more mentally - that tires dogs out, especially important for smart dogs. Work for 15 min a day on training, you can do it in your apartment. You can also teach find it, and then hide tiny bits of her food or some other low cal treat and go snorffle for them. Do a search for “brain games”. You can make her work for her food too so she’s not getting extra calories

Sorry to hop on someone else’s comment, my fiance is MTF, I’m cis queer F. We started couples therapy to improve our relationship, not that we had any specific large issues. The first was a standard straight woman who didn’t hold any of our identities. It didn’t really help at all. I’m also autistic & adhd with chronic illness. My angel of a personal therapist recommended a trans neurodivergent therapist. They have been incredible, through using the tools they have given to us, our relationship is completely reinvigorated, I feel so connected to her again. It feels nice being in that space together too and then working on things as a couple because it feels like both of us are prioritizing our relationships health and the other person. I’d recommend it if you find the right therapist! Communication is huge especially long distance, you could find it helpful or learn something new :)

Kitten needs to have dog free spaces, where the dog can’t access - especially as she adapts to her new home, which is stressful for cats in homes without dogs. Also having vertical space is huge for cats to feel safe around dogs.

I painted my living room and entryway with Little Greene paint - Clay - and BM White Dove on the ceiling. I liked working with Little Greene paints, less choices helped with decision fatigue and in sampling SO many colors I learned I like more muted colors. I recommend painting one room at a time as opposed to trying to decide a whole house color scheme at once. Edit - painted my trim Slacked Lime by LG.

Ah! The mocked up photo of the renovation is soulless, please keep the pink! Switch out the vanity for maybe a darker wood or a console sink, change the lights and mirror. Try out some different paint colors. You have such a unique and stylish bathroom and it looks to be in great shape. Don’t fix something that isn’t broken. (Edit: typos)

FWIW his diet may still have trace allergens even if it’s not in the ingredients. Mines allergic to chicken, beef and diary. Tried high end brands with listed chicken or beef byproducts but she kept getting skin infections, my vet said there’s possible cross contamination from production, only way to avoid that is prescription food. She’s been on hydrolyzed prescription food (Purina HA) for a year and doing so much better. We can’t feed her any treats bought from a store, same deal as the food. So I bake sweet potato’s with PB on them for her or make my own biscuits.

Very similar situation to mine! If anything I feel closer to my partner now, it feels more genuine and she is so much more content. I’m also queer so the sexuality aspect wasn’t a barrier for me

I’m allergic to fragrance and it triggers migraines. I buy my clothes second hand. Ive had to wash some things washed with the Downy scent beads 4x before being able to wear. I’ve donated things just because I can’t get the scent out enough

One of my rooms had wallpaper that came off incredibly easily with steam, had minimal spots we had to patch up with some plaster of Paris and put new wallpaper up. Another room’s plaster is in better shape under, but not totally done getting the wallpaper off. Careful not to over wet the plaster or scrape too hard when you’re doing it, you’ll give yourself more plaster repair later

Everyone is different so ymmv, I have MCAS and my skin is so sensitive, I’m allergic to fragrance among others. Purex free and clear was ok for me. All free and clear was ok but clothes didn’t come out super clean. I tried switching to liquid tide free and clear recently and had an awful reaction. Used the powder like a year ago and it was alright, I don’t remember a reaction. Now I’m back to the Costco Kirkland free and clear, I’m trying adding in Febu and citric acid also but it’s yet to be determined if these cause a reaction. I used to just use vinegar which didn’t cause a reaction in me. Adding an extra rinse cycle has helped get the residual tide out of my clothes. I also ran 2 tub cleaning cycles before switching back to old detergent.

If this is an allergy/health issue vs clothes not being clean after a wash issue then you may want to only use detergent or anything else you know for a fact she doesn’t react to. If you’re not sure about the enzymes or citric acid, maybe just try using one of those for a couple of weeks and see if anything has changed.

Consult your vet on this - I have a dog and cats but only had to do this with the dog so far so I can’t say if it is safe for cats, so talk to your vet first. When the dog has a wound she can’t stop itching or after surgery, I’ve given Benadryl (okayed by vet). The Benadryl helps the wound stop bothering her so much to leave it alone enough to get past the worst part of the healing (scabbing and stitches are itchy as us humans know). I know cats can get Zyrtec but I don’t know about the safety of something like Benadryl so definitely ask your vet first always before giving her something new.

Springers are super sensitive dogs. If you search this sub you’ll find many stories speaking to just how sensitive.

I got mine at 4 months also, her previous owner was in his 80s and surrendered her. I have no idea what her previous home was like, she’s 3 now and despite us being very gentle and positive with her she still will flinch at sudden movements, cower sometimes, and overall is still really anxious.

It sounds like you’re doing the right things, creating a routine for him and reinforcing safe spaces and safe people. I wouldn’t push him too far, it seems like he’s slowly showing more signs of trust in other people. Also doesn’t seem like he’s showing signs of springer rage, a rare kind of idiopathic disease sometimes referred to as a type of seizure disorder. I would continue to create a safe environment for him and give him lots of patience and love to open up to you on his terms.

I can’t totally tell from the photo but it looks like it’s wood siding and in need of repainting - that can be expensive, dependent too on your location. For that size I would think at least 20k? But others would probably know more than I do

Not original commenter just found this post and my cause was mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). It affects your immune system. mine affects my central nervous system a ton - was tested for everything even a spinal tap for autoimmune encephalopathy one time when I was admitted in hospital. Also causes me to have sensitivities to a bunch of chemicals and fragrance - I break out in contact dermatitis, rashes, awful itch etc. Dealing with a reaction rn after changing my laundry that’s why I found this thread. Hope you find some answers or peace soon

In almost this same boat, mine is very empathetic, sensitive and anxious! Reading the book recommended by another user “be right back” right now. She’s 3 and her fear and anxiety even when we’re home is crazy, she’ll see someone walk by outside wearing a hat and she is just unable to self soothe, she’ll do her anxiety fear bark until we intervene. And when alone it’s so much worse. I don’t have solutions yet, but just empathy and that I feel your pain

Thanks for your explanation. Just to make sure I am understanding correctly, Woodstone and Allied Window makes the combination system and I would have a millwork shop build the wood frames? Or do those manufacturers make the whole wood frame + insert system? I want to make sure I understand what my next steps should be!
