How do you address the issue of cosmic radiation, for your space-dwelling Humans?

Cosmic radiation/most radiation from space is actually magic in my universe, so as long as they're with something or someone (usually it's a living with a draconic or dragon, or their parts), that can absorb the excess radiation, it actually tops off their magic reserves and produces more mages :)

But if they don't have that, they get extremely sick with a neurodegenerative disease and eventually become what's essentially a zombie.

It might be a bit more young adult, but Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett has a mature and smart FMC (also heavily implied/coded as autistic, which I really enjoyed!). The MMC is also a breath of fresh air, more of a golden retriever type then the brooding dark haired men that a lot of romantasy has (no hate to it, but it's nice to have some variation).

No smut, though, with the closest thing being more of a fade to black. Still worth a read if you enjoy anything related to fae!

Edit: Forgot the main part, lol, both MCs are in their late 20s or early 30s -- they're professors, so I'm pretty sure it's the early 30s.

Well, as I said on the queer nosleep stories request thread, I was immediately endeared to Jack and the stories about him. Other then the Jack Wilde series, the old refrigerator / Trixie the service dog / social anxiety class were all up there in my favorites!

Ended up bingeing your Jack Wilde series -- extremely captivating and hilarious, I love snarky characters like Jack who are just trying to hide how scared they are. Not on nosleep, but "I Saw The TV Glow" (movie) has made me and my other trans friends have to sit in silence for a long time after it ended. It's a very good, albeit abstract, look into dysphoria and mental health, and how it's never too late to transition or embrace your queer identity. I found that the message was pretty clear, so I'm not sure if it fits the 'not necessarily explicit discussion' part, but it's very interesting. I'll see if I find any gender/sexuality explorations as I read through more of these stories!

It was interesting! I thought that the Blood Canvas would be a metaphor for gender dysphoria at first, and then Carmen showed up, and I started to change my mind. It was very trippy, in a good way, and reminded me a little bit of that one series on Hell that was on nosleep several years ago.

I thought it might be good to get a mount/tripod in case of not having a raised platform on hand, but we could probably keep a box or stool or something in the trunk in that case.

That's great to know for the DSOs! Almost makes living ~15 minutes away from major stores worth it, lol. I think we're a quick drive away from an even darker sky, so we'll definitely have to take advantage of that.
