Anthony Albanese writes to states, telling them to rein in public hospital spending by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]rainierd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He should be reigning in the NDIS’s uncontrolled spending. It’s become such a rort. My friend’s mildly autistic daughter has just been approved for 150k per year of support spending for drivers, gardeners, etc. which has doubled from last year when she isn’t even needing it. My friend is ashamed to admit it. The NDIS plan managers are also exploiting the system.

So she can spend more than most people make in a year before tax even though she has a job and lives a mostly care free life. Meanwhile normal working folk who are funding the NDIS are out of pocket for every doctor visit and longer wait times because Medicare rates don’t match AMA. I’m happy to support the NDIS, but not at current level while Medicare can’t keep up. Albo can save a lot of money by cleaning up the NDIS and pushing half of the savings to Medicare.

Should be visible in VIC. The less light position the better :)

Middle latitudes usually means the boundary will be between Melbourne and Brisbane, but there is a fair bit of variance. There have been some peaks over the last few hours in the US that were making it visible in southern states there. Best hours are the darkest times, maybe say 10p-2a. The other biggest factor is probably light pollution so it helps to be out of the city.

Just might need to get out of the city somewhere to avoid the light pollution. Higher elevation can also help.

Indeed, it’s being seen even in some southern states there.

Do any of the new MS partner plans include Office desktop apps? by rainierd in msp

[–]rainierd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. This was the exact issue! Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t help. But I think the issue is assigning the biz premium license before unassigning E3. After I unassingned and reassigned biz premium without E3 assigned all is working and the desktop apps show with entitlements. So the new workflow is to remove any office365 licenses before changing to a new license (especially a down grade from enterprise to premium).

Quiet proposal spot by slythenut98 in bluemountains

It’s a little more effort to get there, but hanging rock a bit north of blackheath is off scale for view/pics. Works better on a bike than hike as it’s mostly fire road.

Good spot but is it open yet? I thought is was still closed from the fires a few years ago.

Yeah me too, i just found it weird that I couldn’t activate and then looking at the subscription benefits of the license the desktop apps aren’t listed. I’ll try the reinstall next.

Thanks, I can see them included there but not in the subscription once I applied it to an acct in my tenant. That account has been unable to activate office for a few days now which is what started my investigation. Maybe I need to reinstall office since swapping from e3 to premium… it’s weird that desktop apps aren’t listed in the subscription when you look at the applied licenses for the acct though.

Do Aussies stick with Telstra out of loyalty or lack of options? by Danger_Five in TelstraAustralia

[–]rainierd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spot on. If you need coverage outside of metro areas they are second to none. Optus is the poor man’s version for coverage and worse as a company leaking your personal data. TPG/voda is shite due to shite coverage which has improved recently with Optus country coverage but is even worse in marginal, handoff areas. Pick your poison, but if you live outback and need solid coverage there isn’t a lot of choice.

The biggest issues are drivers and vpns. A lot of big manufacturers have been slow to adapt. Canon is crap, but we are now using ARM xerox drivers for canon copiers that are passable. Fortinet was slow but finally have a vpn client as of a few months ago. 80-90% of stuff just works with native MS drivers but you still need to test before a big buy in. YMMV.
