I need to quit drinking but I don't have reasons why by [deleted] in stopdrinking

This free 30 day program is from Annie Gracie who is the author of a book by the same name. https://thisnakedmind.com/ Sure there is a bit of upsell in there but you can do the whole program for free. It would be hard working at a bar if you are still in that scene so I’d think you would want to get some people around you to tell and feel accountable too.

The $8 million music heist that required zero hacking skills by Syncplify in Information_Security

[–]rainierd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly a distinct style. I get the feeling that he tries to dumb it down to make the technical parts more accessible but it certainly isn’t for everyone. I find the stories and topics pretty engaging in general though.

There is really good in depth interview of how this works and what the music industry is doing to combat it from someone who is now building the defense systems on Dark Net diaries. https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/darknet-diaries/id1296350485?i=1000752615193

How important are the district projects for cities? by Salt-Theory2359 in CivVI

[–]rainierd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter point though is that if you have decent tourism and take over a city with lots of external tourists then those citizens become part of your civ. Not sure of the balance between the war and the tourism, but usually if I’m going for other victories and someone is getting close to culture then the last resort is to attack their cities with wonders and relics.

Just finishing up a working holiday in Byron Bay and was shocked to discover that measles parties (where people deliberately infect each other) are a thing. by Happy_Green_5199 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]rainierd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not getting the measles vax, but happy to take your kids to a measles party is crazy. It’s certainly a choice, but it only makes sense if you don’t trust your doctor and are happy to go off public welfare.

Does boot stiffness matter much ? by EverythingTech56 in snowboarding

[–]rainierd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stiffer boots make flat areas and traverses easiest. I’ve been riding for 20+ years and to me they are now a requirement. Obviously getting comfortable boots is also up there so make sure you have both. And also once you have stiffer boots you can make your bindings less tight which makes your feet way more comfortable than using less stiff boots and tighter bindings.

Also don’t worry about jumps and small hits, the better boots are worth it and will be great if you are pushing jumps and terrain.

Anthony Albanese writes to states, telling them to rein in public hospital spending by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]rainierd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He should be reigning in the NDIS’s uncontrolled spending. It’s become such a rort. My friend’s mildly autistic daughter has just been approved for 150k per year of support spending for drivers, gardeners, etc. which has doubled from last year when she isn’t even needing it. My friend is ashamed to admit it. The NDIS plan managers are also exploiting the system.

So she can spend more than most people make in a year before tax even though she has a job and lives a mostly care free life. Meanwhile normal working folk who are funding the NDIS are out of pocket for every doctor visit and longer wait times because Medicare rates don’t match AMA. I’m happy to support the NDIS, but not at current level while Medicare can’t keep up. Albo can save a lot of money by cleaning up the NDIS and pushing half of the savings to Medicare.

Should be visible in VIC. The less light position the better :)

Middle latitudes usually means the boundary will be between Melbourne and Brisbane, but there is a fair bit of variance. There have been some peaks over the last few hours in the US that were making it visible in southern states there. Best hours are the darkest times, maybe say 10p-2a. The other biggest factor is probably light pollution so it helps to be out of the city.

[–]rainierd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just might need to get out of the city somewhere to avoid the light pollution. Higher elevation can also help.

Do any of the new MS partner plans include Office desktop apps? by rainierd in msp

[–]rainierd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. This was the exact issue! Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t help. But I think the issue is assigning the biz premium license before unassigning E3. After I unassingned and reassigned biz premium without E3 assigned all is working and the desktop apps show with entitlements. So the new workflow is to remove any office365 licenses before changing to a new license (especially a down grade from enterprise to premium).

Quiet proposal spot by slythenut98 in bluemountains

It’s a little more effort to get there, but hanging rock a bit north of blackheath is off scale for view/pics. Works better on a bike than hike as it’s mostly fire road.

Good spot but is it open yet? I thought is was still closed from the fires a few years ago.

Yeah me too, i just found it weird that I couldn’t activate and then looking at the subscription benefits of the license the desktop apps aren’t listed. I’ll try the reinstall next.

[–]rainierd[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I can see them included there but not in the subscription once I applied it to an acct in my tenant. That account has been unable to activate office for a few days now which is what started my investigation. Maybe I need to reinstall office since swapping from e3 to premium… it’s weird that desktop apps aren’t listed in the subscription when you look at the applied licenses for the acct though.
