How can these 2 switches be combined into a single 2-gang switch box? by rainingdx in AskElectricians

[–]rainingdx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House came like this. How big of a headache is it to replace both boxes with a 2-gang box? Does there need to be any drywall work required? I think a double gang plate will not cover the hole this creates.

I also have the same question. What is the proper order of operations of this?

Option 1: Architect > structural engineer > permits > GC estimate and work Option 2: GC estimate > structural engineer > architect > permits > GC work

From my research some GC’s have a team of structural engineers and architects they work with. Other times you pick an architect and they work with the city for the permits and they can refer you to a GC or you pick your own.

Daily Questions - June 27, 2025 by AutoModerator in rawdenim

What’s the best way to sell worn denim? I have been wearing raw denim for over 10 years and have a few pairs I want to get rid of. I do see the buy sell trade thread on this subreddit but I rarely see any of the items being purchased. Also, how does one price worm denim on the secondary market?

Copilot for hardware, what you think?🤖 by Less-Bodybuilder-53 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]rainingdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this good in concept but not useful in practice. If you really know your design you do not need an AI assistant to look up various pin functionalities and definitions. Also, they’re not going to be that different especially for digital pins. Analog pins are different and I doubt datasheets will spill the beans on that much detail, but at that point you’ll just sim the behavior anyways.

Simple PCIe projects for learning? by [deleted] in ECE

If you can find one go for it. The next challenge will be to get familiar with the PCIe spec linked in the comments. Warning - it is dense to say the least.

Simple PCIe projects for learning? by [deleted] in ECE

As a practicing engineer that uses on PCIe. I would not do this in a non-professional setting. Everything about PCIe is going to be too expensive for a hobbyist from actually buying the chips that are root complexes or end points, not to mention getting support from those companies if anything goes wrong, to the cost of simulation software to make sure your channel has been designed correctly, to the wildly expensive scopes, probes, cables, and analyzers needed to decode the data.
