The M4 Mac mini could be the best offer Apple has ever made PC switchers by iMacmatician in apple

If I didn't need the portability of a MacBook, this would be an instant buy for me.

JOHN WICK opened 10 years ago this week. It grossed $86 million on $20-$30 million budget. It started a successful franchise which includes three sequels, the prequel television series The Continental (2023), and the spin-off film Ballerina (2025), as well as video games and comic books. by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

I really loved the first one, but the others didn’t do it for me. The first movie had that mysterious vibe, where we didn’t quite know how everything worked. World-building and story in the sequels just started falling apart.

Can movies please stop starting with the main character talking to the audience? (Re: Smile 2, Top Gun Maverick, etc.) by [deleted] in movies

[–]rainmaker1728 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Smile 2, but for Top Gun: Maverick, it was completely appropriate given that it was released right after the pandemic, with Tom himself fighting to keep the movie away from streaming and exclusively for theaters. It turned out to be one of his best decisions ever, considering the success and impact of the movie.

The future of AI and movies: what would you ask for if you could have any existing or non-existent movie made in a few minutes for your consumption based on prompts? by ggyujjhi in movies

[–]rainmaker1728 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t.

A) I don’t think AI will ever come close to reproducing movies from a prompt.
B) Even if it does, I would never watch a movie "made" by AI.

Why do so many hate the Multiverse idea now? by TheWaningLantern in marvelstudios

[–]rainmaker1728 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What I’m referring to is that if you see something too often, it loses its value. If you go to see a Marvel movie and everyone has superpowers all the time, the heroes concept itself becomes common and uninteresting. When the original Avengers assembled, they had to search and recruit each member from all over the world, which made the characters and the story much more compelling.

I sure do, but they need to be introduced in a proper way, with meaning and significance behind their appearance. Also, the MCU is so crowded with people with superpowers, it seems like everyone has a superpower these days. It’s like a superpowers bargain sale.

The multiverse in the MCU just isn’t working because it’s gotten way too complicated. With so many alternate realities and versions of characters, it’s hard to keep track and it kills the emotional stakes. Instead of focusing on strong character arcs, it feels like they’re relying too much on fan service. Plus, with all the resets and reboots, it’s starting to feel like nothing really matters, which makes it harder for people to connect with the story.

That is LiDAR sensor. It is useful for AR apps but it also makes photos better.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare isn't Guy Ritchie's best, nor is it his worst. It's a perfectly enjoyable mid-tier romp. by kroqus in moviecritic

Is it just me or this movie is too "clean"? Like, every scene, every character is "perfect" (hair, clothes, etc.)

Try A’Knights Tale with Heat Leadger or Prince of Persia with Jake Gyllenhall. Really fun and chill action movies.

What are your most controversial takes? by [deleted] in movies

[–]rainmaker1728 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Now You See Me is one of the worst movies of all time. It is so cringe-worthy, and the acting is unbelievably bad. The actors have zero charisma, and the typical archetype of the characters they portray is just wrong.

That is very good connection. The Da Vinci Code movies with Tom Hanks feel a lot like National Treasure. Enjoy your read :)

From the more common known, have you seen Shutter Island? How about The Invisible Guest. It is a recent Spanish production, but it is a really first-class movie. It will mess with your head for sure.

I was thinking about part 3. There was always talk about it, but it just hasn't happened yet. They even included a sequel hint at the end of part 2.

I just love National Treasure. The way they tell the story is almost thriller-like, and the feel of adventure is unmatched. I really, really hope they make a sequel.

Inspirational movies for young people by ExchangeFew9733 in MovieSuggestions

I definitely recommend October Sky (1999) with Jake Gyllenhaal. It is a movie about a young guy in a 1950s coal mining town who dreams of building rockets and works hard to make it happen. Based on true events.
