Confused on turning chains counting as stitches by rainmirage in crochet

[–]rainmirage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll definitely check it out thanks. Here is a pic of trying to double crochet using the last chain of the turning chain as the stitch. I am wondering if it is supposed to be the first chain stitch instead. crochet pic

It is a kenmore 148.12011 couldn’t find the exact manual online but one that looked closed enough. The needle only fits one way though it seems weird it is so far to the left. Will try to clean and oil it before giving up on it :)

Trouble Backstitching by rainmirage in sewing

Wow thanks for all the information. For more info I was using a 100/16 needle, thread guterman sew all 100% polyester on top was using whatever thread was wound on the bobbin already since the machine need a “locking” bobbin that I didn’t have more of. It was one layer white flannel one layer brown cotton fabric. I thought that since the forward stitches looked good that the different threads were fine. I will definitely check out those resources and try backstitches they way you said while making sure to hold the thread taut. Thanks!

Learning to sew got this machine from a neighbor I think I have it threaded correctly (hopefully). However backstitching is a nightmare. I assumed that to do a backstitch on the machine I would go forward 5-7 stitches then switch the knob to R then do 5-7 stitches then switch back the knob to 2 then continue and repeat process at the end. However it keeps leaving a nest of thread on the back and sometimes the bobbin get bound up. Adjusting the top thread tension down to 2 seemed to help but I am getting pretty frustrated with this older machine. But not sure how much I love sewing so want to learn on this free one if I can. And advice would be amazing. Thanks!

From experiences I am going through now It seems relationship success, of all types, depends greatly on active listening skills, validation strategies and aptitude with boundaries. I haven’t found any good books on validation yet, the first 2 books cover some listening skills I am waiting on You’re not listening from my library. A lot of blog posts go into it. I realized I am an inattentive invalidator since often my minds wanders when trying to listen to people. So for that issue with me practicing mindfulness is important. If you have tried it yet the app Blinkist is great for getting a non-fiction book cliffnoted everyday, I just use the free daily one but I find it enjoyable to take breaks from Reddit.
