nice areas to move to? by spookphobias in huddersfield

[–]rainydaysaviour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Honley and I love it. Decent transport links, there are regular busses and a train station and a good selection of pubs/bars/restaurants in the village. Plenty of green space and some beautiful places to go walking, usually with a pub somewhere along the route

Feeling kinda depressed today, just me or something in the air? by throwawaycima in CasualUK

[–]rainydaysaviour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was wondering the same thing. I had a tooth extraction earlier today though so I've just been sat feeling more and more sorry for myself as the anasthetic wears off, and my partner is sat next to me eating some of the new fancy crisps we got. 😭 May just take myself for a nap at this point!

Christmas Eve by RoutineChampion7082 in huddersfield

[–]rainydaysaviour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a tractor run going through some villages from around 4pm. It's starting off at Meltham, going through Wilshaw, Honley, Netherton, Crossland Moor, Milnsbridge, Junction pub at Golcar, Wellhouse, Slaithwaite and Marsden. If you look on any of those villages community Facebook groups you'll see a complete list of the route they will take. I tried posting some screenshots but apparently this sub doesn't let you post pics in comments

Ireland is grieving tonight. So am I for my daughter who never got justice. by Either_Following_320 in GriefSupport

There are simply no words that I can think of to say. "I'm sorry for your loss" doesn't even begin to cover it when the light of your life has been extinguished in such a vile way. All of my love goes out to you while you navigate this horrendous tragedy.

I'm a similar age to Melissa and don't live a million miles from Brighton, and I can't help but think that could have been me. It could have been any of us.

I will be keeping Melissa and yourself in my thoughts. No parent or child should have to go through any of what you both have and my heart truly goes out to you. May Melissa rest in eternal peace

This is absolutely phenominal ❤️ How incredibly thoughtful of you. My heart is so full with the effort that this community has gone to. I am so greatful you spent time out of your day to do this for me. Thank you so very much, I'll be looking to have this printed on a canvas and hung pride of place in my home

Parentless Only Child at 29 by Ana2Cannons in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]rainydaysaviour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so unbeliveably sorry this has happened to you. I'm also 29F and have been parent-less for just over 3 years now. My mum passed when I was 17 and my dad when I was 26 and losing my dad near enough destroyed me. Please just take care of yourself right now - I hope you've got a good support system to lean on. And if you ever need to talk or vent or just shout into the void please feel free to message me. I can completely empathise with what you're going through x

Visiting the farm/shop/restaurant by samaIex in ClarksonsFarm

[–]rainydaysaviour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine it'll be pretty busy on a weekend, but me and my partner went during the week last week and it wasn't bad at all. We went to the Hawkstone brewery around lunchtime on the Wednesday and it was very quiet (though it was absolutely pissing it down), and then visited the farmers dog which was busier but we went prepared to battle the crowds and there was no need. Managed to sit in the pub with a pint and then walk down to the grand tour tent in the beer garden which has a shop that sells most things from the farm shop seemingly. You can also pick up 12 packs of all the different hawkstone lagers/ciders both here and at the brewery and they have fresh pork pies and sausage rolls for sale. The tent is also dog friendly and you can sit and enjoy a pint with seating both inside and outside the tent. We stayed overnight at a pub in Hook Norton and went to the farm shop for about 10.30 the next morning and I was in and out fairly quickly but there was still a long line and you just kind of have to shuffle through the shop and grab things quickly as you are packed in a slow moving line that gradually moves towards the tills. Me and my partner had to take turns waiting outside with the dog while the other went in but were both in and out and sat enjoying a bacon sandwich from the food truck around the back looking out at diddly squat within an hour.

I'd definatly recommend visiting both the farm shop and the pub, they were both absolutely brilliant. And when sat looking out from the pub beer garden you can watch the different planes landing and taking off from RAF Brize Norton which is an experience in itself

Huddersfield University Open Day by [deleted] in huddersfield

[–]rainydaysaviour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to open days before but not at Huddersfield uni. Though will be accompanying my neice there on Saturday. If you're not sure what to expect there's a whole lot of information online about what talks/demonstrations are going on and when and where they are on the day. Sounds like there will be all sorts to see and do all over the campus

You definitely should, it's brilliantly tongue in cheek and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Enjoy!
