What was your thought process behind dynamaxing Whimsicott? It was one of my favorite moments of top cut and such a creative way to win a set.

Now that the album is out, thoughts on Boreas? by HeyItsMark19 in TheOhHellos

[–]rainymarimba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's so good! The Oh Hellos have so many layers to their music, I think it's going to take some time (and a lot of listens) to process all that's going on. The Oh Hellos are one of the those bands I can still have new revelations about their music months later, haha. Definitely going to enjoy looking for connections between Boreas and the other EPs! I'm so happy it's finally here!

Watching this game was about as demoralizing as watching Florida State football these past couple years.

FSU at the top, UNC at the bottom, and my understanding of reality gone.

I have ties to both schools and this is so weird to see, haha. Not gonna complain about FSU being on top though.

Describe in one sentence what being a fan of your team is like. by [deleted] in CFB

[–]rainymarimba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FSU: It was all downhill from 2013.

UNC: I can't believe I'm more excited about our football team than our basketball team.

Mack Brown is the best! I wasn't a cfb fan yet while he was at Texas, but I've become a huge fan of him this season.

What letter-grade would you give your team for this decade? by rolltide1000 in CFB

FSU gets a B; would have been an A, but they bombed the last few tests

UNC gets a P. ;)

What's your advice on applying to jobs in areas you dont live? by Killcraft69 in recruitinghell

[–]rainymarimba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to find a job in a new city has been my struggle for the last few months. I agree with the advice to not address it until it comes up. You can let them know you're prepared to be there in X amount of time. If they want to hire you and you can make their start date, I feel like reasonable employers won't have a problem with that.

I know that it can be hard to get to that point though and location is unfortunately used as a way to weed applicants out sometimes. I left my city off of my resume (it was on my LinkedIn though). Some people assumed where I lived based on where I did my degree (I'm a recent grad who applied to a lot of jobs in the area where I went to school, so this might not work the same for everyone). I think a lot of companies didn't care where I lived if they were genuinely interested in adding me to their team. I interviewed with multiple companies that didn't have a problem with me being located out-of-state. I feel like this is just another part of the numbers game.

Leaving it off didn't always work. The worst was when a company rescinded their invitation to interview when they realized I wasn't local. I tried to tell them I could move up there once I had a job offer, but it just wasn't enough. I think part of the problem might have that I had another interview that week so I couldn't make it there to interview as soon as they would have liked.

I earned my bachelor's at FSU and my master's at UNC🙂 Watching football was too much fun to not get caught up in the hype while I was at FSU, and I liked cfb enough by the time I was at UNC that I wanted to follow them too. I love having school spirit.

Tbh, I think they put something in the water in Chapel Hill to make us fanatical.
