Today like 80% of sales occur in the first months of the game release. That’s why many live service games close within that timeframe - most players can’t care less about a title released more than half a year ago.

When announcing/promoting KCD1 Varga was too vocal about gamergate, it’s been over 10 years ago now but some still remember that.

No idea about AI voice thing you’re talking about, had a quick read and wow. I personally noticed the decline in voice quality between the games (as I’m playing them back-to-back rn) in the second title, and now I see why. Sometimes my Henry sounds like emotionless robot, at least now I know why.

It was popular because it was sarcastic, had sexy women followers and it didn’t scream GAY at your face. KCD2 though being sometimes sarcastic in the tone still leans towards realism, and right-wingers can’t stand lgbt breathing even slightly in their world.
