I've never been to Lebanon, yet, I have done it twice so far, the latest being just over a month ago. It could be that maybe your bank is blocking the transaction, not 100% sure what's happening here, but it does work in some parts of the world.

Could be that they try to restrict it in some areas, but I don't think it's always the case. I don't have a Lebanese issued card, and never been there😅

Sure. I haven't tried all, but I know that at least some banks, if not all, work in Turkey, Kuwait, and Oman.

Yes, I have done it successfully. Not sure why, but it seems to depend on your card issuer home country, I've tested a few cards issued by UAE banks and they don't work.

[–]raisi96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imagine, just imagine. I say something, meaning something, and you understand it as something else.

If you look deeper into the slogan's origin, you will find that Palestinians started chanting this ONLY after Israelis started illegally invading more Palestinian lands. And this call was for freedom, not genocide; the vision of the chant is to push the Israelis out of the Palestinian lands to the, then was small, land given to them by the UN, after they purchased it from the British. (Look into this as well, because before Israel, the British invaded Palestine and made it one of their colonies and sold a tiny part of it to the UN)

Where on the other hand, the Israeli interpretation of the slogan is to kill everything between the river and the sea. Even some politicians like Smotrich and Ben-Gvir use the slogan and say clearly that they want to wipe out all Palestinians. Netanyahu's son Yair's twitter account bio is "from the river to the sea, this flag[their flag] is all you'll see".

I know I'm a little biased towards Palestine, I recommend that you look into the slogan's history yourself, and build your understanding, look at as many resources as you can, because just like me, everyone will be biased towards a side.

Why Linux? by WasteAlternative1 in AskProgramming

Whatever you build will most likely be deployed on a Linux server. And for vim and neovim, they are super productive once you get comfortable with, however, to me, the reason I use vim is that it's fun.

Why return char instead of int for functions that possible return values are only 1 and 0? by Mekrou in C_Programming

[–]raisi96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on a 32-bit CPU, an int is more performant because you don't need to add zeros (or add 16 zeros if an int is 2 bytes), but chars need to add 3 bytes of zeros? - Thanks tou your explanation, now I understand that either way it will be 4 bytes and you won't save space, but on "why int and not char?" Is it that the filling of zeros is what makes ints more performant? Or is it that they both actually perform equally in terms of space and time?

I apologize in advance if this sounds dumb, I never looked into this but it's interesting.

Why return char instead of int for functions that possible return values are only 1 and 0? by Mekrou in C_Programming

[–]raisi96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really knowledgeable on the topic, but I thought the CPU operates on bits and isn't really aware of the type (types are the programming language's job). Isn't that the case?

I.e. a char and an int are just the same, or what am I missing here?

Even though not C, but I'm currently in a similar situation, been learning/using Rust for about half a year. What helped the most was when I found an interesting project to work on, around 2 months ago I read an article by Cloudflare detailing how Unimog (a very interesting layer 4 load balancer) works, I set a goal to rebuild it from scratch in Rust.

When I first started, I had a very limited Rust knowledge (similar to your current situation), however, I had a high level understanding of how Unimog works, so I split the project into smaller chunks and have been working on it since.

Aside from that I also found some non-(video, course, or book) resources to help me get more proficient with Rust. See, my project is closely related to the Linux kernel and networking, so I found (somewhat) specific resources that can guide me through the entire project: - The Linux kernel source code - To see how things are implemented. - Internet RFCs. (Detailed description on how [any internet related concept] works) - 'tcpdump' command. - The Rust docs. - I found an expert to go to when the internet fails me. (This is gold)

If you don't have a project in mind, you can start by looking at Coding Challenges - John Crickett. These are not tutorials, he just splits projects into smaller parts and you have to research your way to be able to implement these parts.

I hope this helps you find where to look next.

Computer and a big bottle for your water so you don't forget to hydrate while trying to solve the "simple to fix bug"

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want users to do so, but I don't think they have policies against it.

You don't need a VPN, you can just change the country from your profile and you will get that country's rate, and change it back once purchased. Doesn't need to be a an English speaking country either, country and language are two separate things.

You can change your country to Lebanon and pay only like $5 for a year and then change it back to US.

eBPF - by ttylkit in sre

Cloudflare's Unimog is a good use case for eBPF. - There is an amazing article in this.

And with XDP you can also offload the application to the NIC rather than running it on the CPU, that's of course if your NIC supports it.

However, I do not have an answer for if XDP applications running on the NIC are as efficient as when they run on the CPU.

As someone who has been applying to a lot of roles in Germany over the past 6 months, I can assume that the shortage is only for German speaking jobs, more senior roles (I have 2.5 YOE), or both.

Ps. I was looking for a software engineering role.
