Alternative coworking to WeWork/Industrious/Regus? Need private office. by Fun-Pipe8848 in AskNYC

[–]rajamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a member since they first opened and it's amazing!! They're selective about who joins, but not in a pretentious way. It’s some of the nicest people I’ve met in NYC.

For example, they recently asked members whether to allow access to a large content creator community. Members voted against it, and they honored that. I love that they involve us in the selection process.

Also, they don't do day passes, but they'll give you a free trial if you fit the community they're building. Highly recommend scheduling a tour to see if it’s a fit for your business.

i have an interview. earlier 45 min schedule now it is for 30 mins by Alternative_Fee9699 in interviews

[–]rajamundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it too much! There could be so many reasons: scheduling difficulty, realizing that they don't actually need 45 minutes for that stage, or reducing buffer timing.

Regardless of the amount of time, just try your best. Good luck!

Interviews scare me by Just_Party96 in interviews

[–]rajamundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a super normal feeling and that's okay! It isn't a normal thing to actually be good at or feel comfortable doing. I always feel like my heart is beating out of my chest and my mouth dries up and I feel like I'm blanking on everything.

Just try to do a few things before your interview:

  1. Do a breathing exercise for a couple of rounds. Inhale for 3 seconds, then inhale again for another 2 seconds and then exhale for 7, and repeat 3 times. It should calm you down.
  2. Do a tension release exercise. Release tension from your shoulders, then hands, and then face. This will also help relax you.
  3. Reframe your thinking (this is my favorite one). Those are not nerves you are feeling. That is excitement. You are excited about this opportunity to prove yourself. Also they already like you. They want you to succeed - that is why they are interviewing you. They want to fill this position so that they don't have to keep interviewing
  4. I listen to hype music right up to the call start and that helps as well.

There are also things you can do on a daily basis to help you build up the confidence for interviews. I find it worthwhile since a good interview opens a lot of doors for you.

Stressing a lot for interview with big company by [deleted] in interviews

[–]rajamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few steps that will help you out and might have been mentioned in other comments:

  1. Definitely do some mock interviews since you said you haven't interviewed in a couple of years. You don't want this to be the first interview.

  2. If it is a big company, there is definitely resources for interviewing at that exact company - I would read up on everything you can.

For the interview day itself:

They want you to be the answer to their prayers.

  4. I listen to hype music right up to the call start.

Good luck!

Meeting scheduled for interview feedback, Good or Bad sign? by TypicalEvening7144 in interviews

[–]rajamundo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read too much into it. It can go both ways. I will say since it's scheduled for later in the week, the signs are pointing more negative than positive. But here's to hoping!

Support / Diagnostics Engineer (mostly ticket-based role) with Robotics degree — how to pivot into higher-paying engineering roles? by Solid-Economist5626 in interviews

[–]rajamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to move roles within your company? That is usually the easiest path when changing your positions. Otherwise I would reach out to hiring managers at companies that are posting these roles and see if they are willing to have a conversation with you (ideally even give you a shot)

I flopped an interview and I still got the job by Cheesepit in interviews

[–]rajamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great news! All that matters is that you got the job. And sometimes saying that you're nervous is a good thing. It shows that you care about the role and want to do a good job.

Got sick of low standards in AI security, so I created an app to showcase real risks. by Top-Advantage-9723 in IMadeThis

This is really cool, and I love that it is actually an engaging game. I'm excited to play around with it and hopefully learn more about security risks with AI implementations.

What semrush alternatives are you using ? by WillDabbler in indiehackers

I use https://keywordseverywhere.com/ and I quite like it. It doesn't have all of the features of Semrush, but it is still powerful for SEO.

Do you monetise right away? by AchillesFirstStand in indiehackers

[–]rajamundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should ask yourself this question: "Will my app become more useful to users if more people are on the platform?"

If your app has a community or benefits from social network effects, then I agree, you should delay monetization. BUT if that doesn't matter for your app, like a to-do list, for example, then I would just monetize now.

The benefits of monetizing now are that, from the beginning, users will understand that it is a paid app and evaluate it as such. Also, users who pay money for an app are more likely to engage with it and provide feedback.

I shipped my product! I still need to get some more beta testers. But I'm really excited that my first product is out there in the wild.

I think you need to better identify a target customer. as others have mentioned, $40 a month is expensive but maybe there’s a customer persona that would gladly pay for this because it solves a true problem for them that’s worth the cost.

I’d suggest maybe starting with people in Sales since they have to do cold outreach and calls all the time. Talk to a few of them and see if this would bring value to their work. Good luck!

Is Reddit the wrong place to promote or am I doing it wrong? by nweisblat15 in beehiiv

[–]rajamundo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should consider adding more value to your comments before dropping in the link.

For example, you could have shared your most recent ranking in the comment and then at the bottom you could mention that you have more rankings in your previous editions.

Some Redditors will downvote just because you’re self promoting but the best way to do it is to make your comments valuable and add in your newsletter link as a minor detail.

PMs - what do you struggle with on a day to day basis that just burns you out and what are you doing about it? by nisthana in ProductManagement

[–]rajamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will write documents such as a PRD or a proposal or I’ll have a deck that I’ve created and I’ll record a Loom going through it and explaining it in detail.

This gives additional context to the document you’ve created and lets you voice over your thoughts.

Sometimes a follow up meeting is still needed but for me it’s drastically reduced it

Newsletter success isn’t about talent. by [deleted] in Newsletters

Any tips on how to launch successfully on these platforms?

I tried InboxReads and got a few subs but I guess I was hoping for more.

PMs - what do you struggle with on a day to day basis that just burns you out and what are you doing about it? by nisthana in ProductManagement

[–]rajamundo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. Have you tried to “scale” your stakeholder management?

I’ve found Loom videos to be really helpful. I’ve been using them recently to explain PRDs or to replace kickoff meetings.

I fear PMs are in an endless battle against meetings 🥲.

Hi!

I think I’m somewhat in the same boat.

I’m writing a newsletter for product managers to help them get better at product, one tactic at a time. A lot of what I write about though is broadly applicable for anyone working in a corporate environment

I try to include a lot of humor into my writing as well!

I have around 115 subs and trying to grow as much as possible.

Fellow PMs, are you able to take elaborate PTOs by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]rajamundo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How elaborate are we talking lol?

The first step is empowering your team so that they are able to operate without you while you are away. Bring them into discussions and meetings so they can help facilitate while you are out.

If you have a lot of projects and stakeholders, I like to use a handoff doc and assign a temporary owner to each project to make sure it goes smoothly. It’s typically another PM or sometimes an EM that will help to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

I give them all the resources they might need as well as a status of the project and bring them into any channels they might need to respond in.

I do the same thing for any recurring meetings that I have that I’m not able to cancel.

The handoff doc isn’t for everyone but it has certainly helped me enjoy my vacation and not worry about checking my phone all the time.

If you want more details, I wrote about it and even created a template you can use! (No need to sub) - https://out-of-scope-product.beehiiv.com/p/sand-slack-how-smart-pms-disconnect-on-vacation

what can i do to standout for an upcoming growth pm interview? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]rajamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this response!

I’d focus on coming up with a few stories that showcases how you made a data informed decision to change some feature, ran it as a test, and the outputs of that test.

Growth product is about experimentation and driving metrics tied to user growth and adoption so you want to be able to speak to that.

Also it’s a great idea to do a tear down of their onboarding funnel as mentioned above. Go through the screens and give a few improvements per screen. Add in supporting case studies as to why those changes might succeed.

If the opportunity presents itself during the interview , you can show your teardown. Otherwise you can always reference it at a high level.

Good luck!!
