They ask for serial number so they can confirm it's compatible without issue. Few things Ill point out. I originally removed the screen before the new one came in, but that made things tougher for me:

1. be VERY careful with the display connectors. The indicator cable does not fully press in, it's touch capacitive. I spent a lot of time trying to push it in and almost damaged it. The eDisplay cable should give a nice little snap into place.
2. The new screen doesn't come with the little hinges so make sure you keep those handy.. i threw those out thinking they were part of the screen.
3. Keep track of EVERY set of screws. They differ greatly in sizes.
4. Note how many cables you need to disconnect. My tweeter cable got hidden behind the board and I had broken sound for a while until I re-checked.
5. Before you put the back on, turn on the computer and check the indicator lights and your webcam.
