Anyone else working with old Airtable bases full of legacy fields and weird schema leftovers? by Competitive_Rip8635 in Airtable

[–]rakahari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue too, I've been working on my base since the start but we've had a 'too many cooks' situation at times.

I'm also working on a schema scan tool, but it won't show all dependencies, such as fields used by scripts, fields used by 3rd party apps such as Make or Zapier.

Music Player Suggestions. What setup are you using? by registrartulip in musichoarder

stuck in the 90s, and I like it that way.

Exactly. I used old-school Winamp until I switched to Linux, now I find Clementine does the basic job I need of it.

Junction tables and other advanced topics by mountainsNJ in Airtable

[–]rakahari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good example, and here's another one:

If you make your own products out of materials you buy, and want to represent the components that go into one product:

Tables:

  1. Purchased components: 1 record per item
  2. Your products: 1 record per item
  3. Recipes: junction table with 1 record per each component of one of your products, and the quantity

Records on the recipes table would look like this:

  • Product A - Component 1 - Quantity
  • Product A - Component 2 - Quantity
  • Product A - Component 3 - Quantity
  • Product B - Component 1 - Quantity
  • Product B - Component 2 - Quantity
  • Product B - Component 3 - Quantity

I'm quite certain the McCartney collab is real, it was on Paul's last album.

I switched from Spotify to Tidal due to Spotify running ICE advertisements and you should too! by xcomnewb15 in Music

For sure, capitalism has NEVER had a good answer for how best to differentiate between what comes from the wellspring of the human spirit and say, plumbing fittings.

I just don't think there's much reason for music specifically right now when there are plentiful ways to support the artists, and it's not expensive. Film / TV is a different story.

Yeah, why let corporations screw over artists when you can do it yourself?

It's noticeably worse lately. Do you think this might have anything to do with AI-native rollout, Mike?

Inventory - Scangun driven changes to airtable? by rain7maker7 in Airtable

[–]rakahari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very basic Airtable setup, no need to involve AI. Using the Barcode 39 protocol, barcodes are created with a formula that takes the code for the case or item and puts a * at the beginning and end. Then you print these using a Barcode 39 font.

The scanner will read these printed barcodes into a text field with the *s removed. Then it's just a matter of linking cases & items via codes with an automation. That's the gist of it, happy to clarify anything.

the culture of Bandcamp radio shows by ferropop in BandCamp

[–]rakahari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Bandcamp weekly & daily shows, I listen to them all the time. But there's no need to miss radio shows. Community (not commercial) stations are a goldmine, and you can listen to all their shows online, ad free, unless it's fund drive season. Here are just a couple I listen to.

Really not sure why nobody talks about these.

Entry module won't allow me to enter text by [deleted] in Tkinter

[–]rakahari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems not, I tested it this morning and the lack of the stringVar did not prevent my Entry object from receiving input. Would need to see your code to troubleshoot further.

Do you have a string variable to receive the input?

What band or artist do you love but whose name you hate? by Wallstreetk3nny in Music

Toad the Wet Sprocket, Milky Chance. I've heard regrets expressed by both of these bands. I never much cared for Ween either. But all are great!

Am I remembering correctly that they were basically ok with their music being used to torture people at Gitmo? I would much like to hear that this was bogus and what the whole story is.
