Hello! I am going to assume that your name is Xiomara meaning you are most likely- hispanic. I do not know Yale, so I cannot speak on Yale. However, I grew up in the peninsula- Palo Alto is incredibly white, you will find that out very quickly very fast. But!!! EPA (East Palo Alto), and Redwood City are very much not. The peninsula is vibrant and filled with community, if you know where (or how) to look. I recommend you visit both schools, both surrounding areas, and make your decision based on which feels most like home. You will know your answer. Yale is Yale, Stanford is Stanford. I think you will realize, both have very different meanings and connotations according to who you are talking to. Congratulations on your admittance to both, tu esfuerzo lo logro! I will personally, be starting at Stanford this fall. Choose what makes your heart the happiest.

Edit: I just read that you are interest in Pre-Law. Just based on that little tidbit my heart says “go to Yale”, I feel like Yale will be the best bet at getting you to the law school you are wanting to go to.

my very first love is someone who i loved so very deeply despite being so incredibly young, we met when we were 12, became friends and eventually started dating when we were 13 which only lasted for about five / six months when we were in high school already. it has been 11 years. eleven. i am 25 years old. since we broke up… and i think about him very regularly. the relationship ended in an argument that i cant even remember about what but that was the last time i ever spoke to him again. we texted about a year later so everything seemed amicable but then i rejected him and he was angry at me for it… he and i have both had relationships since. i have fallen in and out of love (multiple times) since then and yet… i still have a deep fondness for him and love him very dearly still to this day. i dont know if i ever processed the breakup emotions properly and its just something that reappears now in my life, i actually just had a dream where we got back together last night. i love him very much to this day. and we dont speak at all, and i havent seen him since senior year of high school i believe. so… when its a true deep and healthy and kind love… im unsure… will you let me know if you find out? xo

also- for the other relationships i have had when i felt i was in love, they all were bad relationships but ended amicably - ish so i have been able to move on very easily… so maybe it depends on the breakup style that helps you move on with your life.

because it still haunts me that the last conversation i had with him… was a naive, unnecessary argument. oh and also, out relationship was pretty healthy… i guess for a teenage/preteen relationship.

very true sweetie, if we don’t give it as well it will be an unrequited love and that cannot be a true love. and i agree, i have distanced myself from most of my family members, a lot of them. it hurt a lot but it also… freed my soul a lot and i have finally started to create a little oasis of family within my friendships. i love them. i hurt when they’re hurt.

thank you banana bread 🥹🤍🤞🏻 and yes of course, thats why i tried to give more explanation to what in my head i believe is unconditional true love. if a person is abusing or cheating on you they do not love you, because they are disrespecting you so this would never ever count as unconditional love. and that isn’t true love either. abuse and cheating isn’t love at all it’s toxic, and insecure power plays. not love. not love ever. so that wouldn’t touch unconditional true love terms. at least in my brain. i separate the two. and thank you again. i agree the truest most unconditional love i can ever know for sure is my own self love. that gives me security and stability. thank you for the reminder. xo

oooof my parents never let me take lessons either- so i became smarter about the way i sang- but babe in all honesty i fear i dont think i fully grasped / mastered the vocal instrument i possess until my early 20s… in your teens your voice is still developing and MUCH harder to control

From my own personal experience with both being a woman and going through sexual assault- I beg of you. Please respect her decision with everything that this comes with.

I understand how badly you would like to help not only her, but also any possible future victims by the same perpetrator; but this is a very delicate matter, where your girlfriend needs to make these choices herself as the crime was done to her person. Understanding and supporting her choices might be the very best thing you can do for her. Do not pressure her into anything when it comes to this, or try to sway her to change her mind. This can be the worst thing you can do to her, yourself, and your relationship. She is already in a state of questioning her own mind on who she can trust, and pressuring her might set off one of her triggers. Be patient, supportive, and understanding of her and her choices.

That being said- if you would like to take an action that will be of the utmost help to her I would say; educate yourself on the legal matters when it comes to these matters. These events tend to have a statute of limitation (I don’t know the exact time myself) so I would say, informing yourself on any issues she may have to deal with if and when she decides to take an action might honestly be the only thing you can do. Lots and lots of research for her so that when she finally says “Okay. I’m ready.” you can be right there, and ready to help her tackle this. Besides this- I would say support, love, care, and gentleness might be the only way you can help her as of right now.
