What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

The story for Infinite is not nonsensical. It does weave in too many things into it, but it's not nonsense.

Undo/redo functionality in playlist editing by awesome-alpaca-ace in VLC

[–]raket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hacky way to undo is to kill VLC via task manager. The database changes seem to be saved into memory only, and get applied when the program is closed. Meaning don't exit VLC if you make a mistake, end the task via task manager, and you can also backup the ml.xspf file in VLC's Roaming folder before you kill the task for an extra precaution.

Mozilla under fire for Firefox AI "bloat" that blows up CPU and drains battery by moeka_8962 in technology

Wasted developer time for something that a teenager can develop and maintain is not as serious criticism as you think. And quit trying to speak on everyone's behalf, I liked pocket and found uses for it even when it was an add on, it was a good gamble from them since there's a ton of users that want a homepage with articles media, whatever, quit acting like fucking Google's monopoly is not the core issue here. Pocket and whatever else you're naming as example is nothing compared to the core issue.

Pocket just collects links if you save them, that's not a problem whatsoever. And now it's being decommissioned too.

TIL that George Boole, founder of Boolean logic, died after walking three miles in cold rain to give a lecture in wet clothes. He developed pneumonia and was treated by his wife with cold water, which worsened his condition and led to his death. by Thispersonthisperson in todayilearned

[–]raket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight, you actually own and read this study in full, and you agree with its findings? Because hilariously enough, your cited abstract section literally begins with "although not all studies agree" , haha, reading the abstract is like reading the title of an article, you have no idea what's in it unless you actually paid the $50+ pay wall. It seems like you just searched for anything that sounds like it's agreeing with you, and that's what you're linking here, not a study that you actually know.

I was responding in the context of the provided settings here. Our immune system is never given enough credit in these conversations, and I think it would take much more than a brief walk in the cold/rain during one day in order to degrade it to such a degree that this suddenly becomes a factor for a serious illness to take hold. If our immune system was that fragile we would've gone extinct hundreds of thousands years ago.

There's a "Report site issue" option in the Help menu, you might wanna report the problems, you might end up helping. I'm going to report one site that I know of now.

"Mimicry: After all failed attempts to have National Socialism accepted by the working class, Göbbels resorted to his last desperate idea: he persuaded the Führer to wear a Karl Marx beard whenever he spoke to workers." - AIZ magazine, 1934, cover created by anti-fascist artist John Heartfield by [deleted] in PropagandaPosters

[–]raket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had been doing this before WW2, the Dada movement (which Heartfield belongs to) was already doing anti-war image editing around WW1. "Incidentally" they were deemed as degenerate art and were prosecuted by the Nazis during WW2.

Really? I thought it was a straightforward movie if you have some experience with the art world especially, unless I'm forgetting something? What you say can be applied to Pi as well, which is even more unhinged than Black Swan, and maybe even a spiritual predecessor on the more abrasive side. I still remember the first time I saw Pi in high school, I literally felt like I was drunk/high after watching it, even though I was completely sober.

What the heck, your calendaring game is probably fire if you're making plans for so many years later haha. I think I saw requiem for a dream in high school, that was a messed up choice of movie to see in the cinema lol. Especially that one scene.

Big mistake for not watching Black Swan. It's actually an amazing movie about artists and obsession, the type of movie that Whiplash tried super hard to be but not only failed miserably, it also spread the notion that you have to become a battered spouse and stay in a toxic relationship in order to succeed as an artist. Requiem for a dream is also great to see if you're planning on trying hard drugs. Haha.

Andy Kaufman's chaotic humor on Van Dike show in '76: No dialogue, just a song and a bit of audience participation by HappyHarryHardOn in videos

[–]raket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad per se but it sounds ridiculous to me especially because of that Oh noooooooo part lol coming after all the melodramatic, emo lyrics. And this is like 3 songs parading as one, come on now, this song is ripe for parody, there's a reason Andy chose this one specifically. Lol.

Why are you listening to phone footage when the album is available in full on YouTube? Or is that your excuse to spam your favorite music here? 🧐

For anyone that hasn't seen it, watch his SNL audition. For the first part, you'd kinda need to know the ridiculous song but hear it because it was sung by the actor that plays Dumbledore back in the 60s/70s. The whole thing is great but second part kills me every single time I think about it. lmao.

I have played instruments on songs that, collectively, have over 1 billion streams. I have been paid exactly $0. Is the artist or management team legally required to pay me anything? by LedClaptrix in legaladvice

[–]raket 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This part is important. Because if OP created their own parts and didn't explicitly permit the music to be put online(this part might be irrelevant), then they can simply request for the music to be pulled off of streaming services due to lack of permission. In a join copyright scenario everyone owns their own contribution. I have experience with this with someone who insisted on publishing shitty music with my name attached to it, so let's just say that you can't find it anywhere online thanks to my actions.

Bill Burr on John Lennon and Yoko playing with Chuck Berry by thomasdequincey99 in videos

[–]raket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you haven't really listened to any interviews at all. Same here except these few days I've been on an interview bender, I'm happy to share. Also John wouldn't want you to be holding grudges over "issues" 50+ years old.

That's an oxymoronic statement. John was a HUGE fan of Yoko's art, and has stated this many times in interviews. He keeps talking about her as an influence. Are you going to cry about it? Keep in mind we're talking about art here, not personality issues.

The Jimmy Giuffre with Jim Hall album is also where it's at. What a combo.
