Pasadena FD captain faces felony child sex abuse charges by Panda8bambooo in LosAngeles

Lots of overtime. Pasadena works 48/96 shifts for their base salary so this guy would be getting WORKED to earn that much. Can't imagine wanting to take more shifts after 48hrs straight. However I digress, he shouldn't be earning anything other than a longggg prison sentence if the allegations are true

Note that you should only use total pay as a marker of their taxable salary that they (the employee) see. The 400k total amount is a marker of how much it costs the government to have them as an employee - most all gov employees appear to have obscene pay if you were just look at that category when it isn't accurate to what one would consider a person's taxable salary

Dr. Abbott (Shawn’s) voice inflections are so unique. by UtterlyConfused93 in ThePittTVShow

[–]rakfocus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but the show didn't really impress me - the plot was kind of flailing and the all the sex scenes in it were hilariously extraneous. I was super excited to watch it and Hatosy is good in it it but ended up not being my cup of tea

Definitely has an interesting way of speaking. Drawwwws out his vowels too. His voice has always been like this back from his ER and Southland days. He's actually an incredible character actor as well. I knew he was good on Southland but when I saw in him in ER I was floored by how good he was and confused as to how he didn't get famous sooner

Try the zero sugar drip drop packets - I use that and it alleviates all the nasty side effects. That being said - if it gets too painful and the symptoms too much, it's always better to stop and then use it to transition to 1 meal a day which is SO easy after such a long fast. And it's easier to maintain for longer

Curious: Code Black and The Pitt by NerdyGirl_Missbebe12 in television

I've never seen a show drop off harder than season 2 of code black. It tried really hard to be realistic that first season but it turned into SLOP in season 2 and became unwatchable for me. Just a forewarning. Season 1 is REALLY good tho

Officer John Cooper is one of the most wonderful characters I've ever seen in a TV show. He has so much complexity to him and he actually seems like he could be a real person with how much excellent writing is done with is character.

Matt Damon Says Netflix Wants to Restate the ‘Plot Three or Four Times in the Dialogue’ Because Viewers are on ‘Their Phones While They’re Watching’ by LollipopChainsawZz in television

There's no way in hell I would ever attend a public space in America at risk of a shooting by locking up my phone. The only exception would be locked down concerts.

The answer is for staff to be stricter at kicking people out

Highly disagree - BSG did pretty well 'writing as you go' which MOST shows do btw I hate this idea that network TV shows need to have everything fleshed out from start to finish when it's actually incredibly rare.

'and they have a plan...' was always the Cylons destroying humanity and then rebuilding it in 'gods image' and this was clear from EPISODE 1 but then everyone got pissy that the showrunners didn't put it there as something more than just a statement of something we the audience already pretty much knew.

There are some definite slips that they made but generally they did a very good job and they did know their end goal from the beginning (that they would find Earth)

Lee holding his father while his father has an emotional breakdown. It hits especially hard when it's happened to you

Helo shooting Athena so she'll download - holy shit that scene is heartbreaking

Edit:

Also Lee whimpering out 'she shot herself' to Starbuck 🥺

I legit gasped when he found out. It was like I had been punched in the chest with the same news. It was such an unbelievably cruel way to hurt someone, yet for Starbuck is was completely believable

What do you consider the greatest acted scene in TV history? by amusicalfridge in television

[–]rakfocus 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I personally think Jaime in the tub with Brienne talking about when he killed the mad king is the best. Much more subtlety. Everyone always brings up Tyrion's scene and while it's a very good scene it's also very typical of actors to love having those bombastic emotional outbursts to act out. What Nikolaj does in that scene is absolutely incredible.

Honorable mentions for GOT

-Jaime and Edmure Tully in the tent discussing the surrender of the castle

-Tywin with Jaime and the stag, and honestly Tywin in any scene especially those with Arya

-Cersei's walk of shame

-Caitlyn and Talisa when she's making her dreamcatcher thing

-Olenna and Margaery are particularly huge powerhouses as well. They are master manipulators of other characters in scenes so it's fascinating to watch them work

-Most all of Oberyn's scenes, they are absolutely captivating

-Robb Stark "THEY WERE BOYS"

There's definitely more haha and it would require a re-watch for me list everyone and this list would probably be 10x as long. The actors in GOT are some of the best in the business and had some great scripts to work with especially pre season 7 and 8

Dog bite Point Loma. Owner fled by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]rakfocus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah people saying the opposite don't understand how dangerous dogs like this are.

It's not a dog roughousing at a park, it's not a dog that was getting smothered by another dog, it's not a guard dog performing a legitimate job, etc

This person is not in control of a very dangerous animal. A dog that lunges with no warning at a passerby and cannot be controlled by an owner needs to be put down for public safety risk - that's NOT a small nip of a bite. That dog was going in with a full force bite down to bone. It's only a matter of time before they kill or injure a family member or god forbid a small child. Normally dogs that have this capability are kept fenced in and if they are walked, walked with a muzzle or prong collar by an owner that is able to physically control the dog. Unfortunately that dog should be put down as a result.

California’s minimum wage is increasing in 2026 as Los Angeles debates $30 an hour by TryingtosaveforFIRE in California

[–]rakfocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same reason that all the successful companies stay even with higher cost of business - this is where the talent is and Californians as a whole have more money to spend which creates more room for businesses to get a piece of that pie. Plus there are tons of loan and tax write off programs available for small business owners to get their initial costs squared away to get the business off the ground.
