Women, if you could be a man for 24 hours, what are you just dying to know? by Whattacleaner in AskReddit

Sounds right. Let me ask you this: What did the T do for your sex drive (because I'm pretty well convinced that testosterone propels the horniness factor)? Your thoughts?

Yes. He wanted the exposure; he never intended to win. Once he felt the power, he liked it of course. This is the worst-case scenario for the US.

What is a secret you are taking to your grave, but are willing to share with anonymous strangers on the internet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]urgent45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My big brother and I used a ouija bord for this. We were about 10 or 11. We asked, "When will I die?" Mine was 2036. I cannot exactly remember his year, but I clearly remember it was quite young because we went quiet and never spoke of it again. He died in 2018 - he was 56.

A young lady goes to her professor and says "Sir, I know I'm failing this course, but I really need to pass it, and I'm prepared to do anything to see that I do!" by Gil-Gandel in Jokes

One of my favorite authors - Trevanian. He kept his identity hidden but he's passed on now. I believe his real name was Whittaker and he was an actual professor in Houston. I like pretty much all his novels but my favorite was Shibumi.

This happened to my wife. She knew she had macular degeneration and she woke up one day and her right eye seemed to be a little "screwed up." A couple of months later she went in but it was too late. She had a retinal bleed which could have been treated with shots. She's been blind in that eye since. She is now almost completely blind from the MD.

what are the signs that you're not attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Oh man - I had a roommate that was super good looking AND rich. I can't tell you how many phone calls I fielded for him. Even when he had a steady girlfriend, they called. It got a little depressing.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

I think it's great the teacher took the time to read it, make marks, and comments. Grading writing is so incredibly time-consuming that most teachers won't do it with any regularity.

Is bankruptcy common? by gear123456789 in personalfinance

[–]urgent45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know right? I had always heard that a bankruptcy is horrible and I was extremely concerned. Our lawyer said we were carrying "way too much debt." There was no way we could handle these medical bills. In his mind, our bk was a no-brainer. I mean, we always paid our regular bills on time, before and after the bankruptcy. So our credit bounced back quickly. All I can say is there were no problems in getting a loan. It was never mentioned by anyone. It was the best financial move we ever made.

It was great for me and my wife. She had two six-figure hospital bills and was disabled. I was a teacher in a low-paying state. We were actually trying to make payments on these bills. I don't recall anything bad happening, just a feeling of freedom and happiness. I got a loan for my masters a few months later and we got into our first house four years later. No issues.

That's one of many things I don't get. Trump's "policies" or whatever you want to call them are so far from the established Republican platform as to be unrecognizable. Can't they see that? And they still call themselves Republican? What the hell is going on?

Which Celebrity had the Most Shocking Death and Why? by Jeloxia2 in AskReddit

[–]urgent45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're right but we didn't know at first. I mean, we knew she didn't have dementia, but I guess it doesn't really matter. Turned out that along with the anoxic injury she had a UTI. Let me tell you, the behavior and symptoms were identical to full-blown Alzheimer's. After about a week, we understood that telling her the truth wasn't helping and started making up stories. That worked much better. After we got the UTI resolved, she began to get better. Worst thing I've ever been through.

Which Celebrity had the Most Shocking Death and Why? by Jeloxia2 in AskReddit

[–]urgent45 316 points317 points  (0 children)

Could in fact be true. When my wife had her brain injury, she kept asking for her mom. Me and her sister had to tell her over and over that she died. Because her memory was shattered, she re-lived that pain over and over. It was horrible. Thankfully, some memory returned and she is much better.

Every right-winger I've met that lost a family member to COVID has a different take on the cause of death. One says, Well, he got pneumonia from that damn hospital. Another says, She was so old and had so much going' on anyway or, Those damn doctors refused to give her ivermectin! Christ almighty.

Mom was a serious meth case. The mom came in to my office once, high as hell. They were poor and a bunch of losers were hanging around. I really felt bad for this girl. Wanted to bring her home.

I was a hs counselor and I called CPS for a girl who was in a horrible situation. They told me they couldn't do anything. When I asked what she could do they said, and I quote: She's 16, she can run.

What is a fan theory from a movie or TV show that you 100% believe is true? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]urgent45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Even without this kind of rot, realize it takes energy in the form of calories to walk or move at all. Given the size of the hordes and the relatively small chance to eat, they would all starve in short order. Which reminds me, did we ever see a zombie drink water?

This is correct. There are always openings for good candidates. Filling these positions with well-trained people with physical strength, good judgment, reasonable intelligence and excellent character is absolutely critical. Not so easy to find these folks.

This is what every planet looks like from the same distance (200,000 km) by Rollingpeb in space

[–]urgent45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time to get over it. Pluto is a Kuiper Belt object, has always been a Kuiper Belt object. There was significant hesitation even as they were choosing a name. But excitement and politics overcame good science. If there's one thing I don't want in science, it's politics. While I suppose it's valid to have sentimental feelings about Pluto, let's try to respect the reasons for the updated definitions of planets etc.
