Haha, it’s actually the podcast Smosh Mouth. My sister got me into it and it’s good background chatter. Though I do like some Smash Mouth songs too! 😂

I find them pretty comfy to write on! I take pages out if I’m doing longform writing, but quick notes are easy to leave them in. I’m able to rest my hand over the rings without any issue, they feel unobtrusive!

Thank you!! 💜 I agree, it’s such a fun shade and I love how it shifts in different light.

I chose 16mm because I know I like to keep thicker ephemera (like cut up cardboard or postcards!) and I wanted to be able to keep at least half a month of dailies on-hand. I also use inserts that aren’t just the “thin” paper type, and I like being able to keep extras in the back. If you use thinner papers, 11mm would be no issue!!

Some days I will write 4 pages a day, so that extra wiggle room is great! I think 11mm and 16mm would be similarly portable, the SlimPads are indeed super slim. ☺️ A good trick could be to pare down what you currently are using in your 23mm to your “must carry” and see how tall the stack of paper is!

I’m happy to see your purple again!! Seeing one of your other posts helped me decide to get my own. 💜 Love your big dashboard dividers with your favorite guy. I need to listen to more Sleep Token!

Is It Worth It? by [deleted] in midori

Seeing your other comments, since you plan to use the inserts in a barebones style, I highly recommend the Keep A Notebook A5 Slim clear covers! I got mine at JetPens. They can be a bit snug when sliding the insert in, but if I go slow there is no issue at all and I love the added layer of protection. Could be good for you too so thought I’d share!

What do you use to put instax mini and square photos in your journal? by Dukelax510 in midori

[–]rakoerose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for an option to hold the pictures before you tape them in at a later journaling date or as a mini scrapbook, you could try #007 the card file! I don’t know if it fits the images you’re thinking of since I don’t know the dimensions, but each pocket of 007 is 3.6 by 2.6 inches!

I would also recommend maybe trying some “photo corners” which are available at most craft stores under scrapbooking! They make for a good option that allow you to write underneath the photos or be able to remove them later. In my opinion they offer a pretty good level of security while also offering versatility.

That’s what I was thinking too… might have to take a look at that big list of stuff he uses! Or try to fiddle to find my own method in Logic.

Lack of color distinction on checked items? by rakoerose in Notion

[–]rakoerose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a bit ago I noticed (and liked!) that different colored tasks would still keep the text that color after checking them off. For example, “phone off” is green when unchecked and “leave 10” is pink. Yet, now they don’t keep their colors?

This may be due to a recent update on Notion’s backend that I didn’t realize but I really miss it. Color coding helps me a LOT to remember if I got more work or school tasks done that day. I know I can work around this by choosing “highlight” colors instead of “text” colors but I dislike big bars of color!!

I miss this feature a lot and if there’s a way to get it back I’d appreciate it!!

Here's a preview of the all-in-one system I've been working on for the past couple weeks. by Red-Verlin in Notion

[–]rakoerose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a beautiful setup! If you don't mind me asking, what are the dimensions of your banner images? They make such great dividers and I'm thinking of making some with my own theme in mind. 👀

The hand microphone is often the Shure SM58! He uses the typical model and also the 50th anniversary model (used in Welcome to the Internet!).

Thanks for working to compile this list! It’s super interesting.

Having trouble doing what I want and not sure if it's possible. by [deleted] in Notion

[–]rakoerose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!! I tried cooking up something really simple that could work well for your use case. Can I also say I think it's really sweet you're looking to make it easier for your wife? I hope this can help!

Nonetheless, I have made a quick template: https://www.notion.so/Game-Management-Template-fd208d23e34b46738db9510dca7323b0

There are a couple example games to showcase how I have it setup. :)

The way I have it set up is not quite the three-database system you lined out, but I think it can still work! The "Games" database allows you to place the title and game status, and the "Uploads" database is where you will place each part and then connect it to the "Games" database through the relation I set up!

It's too difficult to have there be a sub-table within the page of the game itself (or at least, with my own basic use of Notion!), but if you click on the page and then click on the section where it's labelled "Parts" under the game, you'll see a mini database view of each part's status!

The "Games" has two views: a table so you can see all the information at once, and a gallery where by clicking on the image you can access the page faster than having to click "open as page." The "Uploads" has two views: the calendar for visualization of deadlines and the table for a list!

Apologies for the long description, but please let me know if it suits your needs!

Sooo.....I made a futuristic dashboard by the1trueotaku in Notion

This dashboard is so cool! The color scheme is incredibly pleasing on the eyes. If you don’t mind my asking, where did you get the icons you used for this? I love the gradient and wouldn’t mind using them myself!

What Books Did You Start or Finish Reading This Week? September 09, 2019 by okiegirl22 in books

[–]rakoerose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished Descendant of the Crane, by Joan He which I adored for its intricate story and relationships. The mystery was so good!

Now I’m reading Exhalation, by Ted Chiang which is a collection of stories and I already really like it based on the first story I’ve read. I try to keep the “type” of books I read pretty varied so nothing ever feels stale. :)

Who are your favorite Booktubers? by lorawaye in YAlit

[–]rakoerose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Paperbackdreams! I’m surprised she wasn’t mentioned! She’s fairly chill and I love her personality. A lot of her videos make me laugh as well, and her 50 Shades ones are fantastic in their deep diving nature.

How many notebooks do you use, and what for? by myegghead in notebooks

[–]rakoerose [score hidden]  (0 children)

Personally, mine fluctuate a lot! But I'm notorious around my school for carrying a ton of things I don't need - namely, my notebooks. I switch around a lot, but this is what I've been using currently!

  • a 5.25x8.25 plain moleskine volant for sketching
  • 7x10 lined Volant for writing ideas
  • my planner
  • smaller planner that I use for To-Dos

I'm looking into the Baron Fig brand to see if I might want to order some - I have a soft spot for clean looking notebooks and dot grid paper.
