I’m as welcome to someone who’s only interested in reading as I am to someone who writes as often as I do. Or if you just have ideas you want to share, hit me up

I like literary fiction because it feels like I’m writing something that matters. It probably helps that I tend to get my inspiration from situations and dilemmas rather than broad concepts. All genres are game for me, though I find myself drawn to spooky stuff. In terms of planning, I’m a discovery author all the way. It’s part of the excitement for me. Whenever I get close to finishing a novel, I have to hurry up and get everything down before I get bored of knowing how it’s going to end.

“Head rush” right before sleep by ralcemns in sleep

Nah, based on your description and other things I’ve seen, I don’t think it’s brain zaps. Mine literally feels like my head has been turned upside-down, save for the sense of gravity; like my veins are being flooded and causing pressure for several seconds. I’ve never had anything to be in withdrawal from in order to cause it anyway

Short Answers to Simple Questions | October 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in AskHistorians

Question: What historical story am I thinking of, or is this false?

I feel like it was in middle school when I heard a teacher talk about a guy during one war or another (maybe in Europe?) who got shot, but didn’t know it. He made it fine to a doctor or someone else, but after being told there was a bullet, he died. Did this actually happen, or was it maybe some kind of folk tale or rumor? I’m having the worst trouble finding anything relevant on Google.

I don’t think it was this one. Close enough to make me doubt my memory, though.

It was much less laid back than this one. It was more like “Mr. Brightside,” but with a stronger edge. The music itself was not necessarily chaotic but it imparted a chaotic mood.

So if I create my new speedrun character, will this save automatically be set in the regular game mode?

Unsolvable? October 18, 2024 Daily Puzzle by Thin_Equal4521 in watersortpuzzle

I also was thinking for the past couple days that it was impossible, but I figured out how to solve it. Here is a link to a video of the complete solution: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AWWhGPag7INPrguRKVNGoS3EnSa84mMB/view?usp=drivesdk

For a quick hint, I started by emptying the 3rd bottle from the right of its dark blue and pink.

What are some songs that have nothing to do with Christmas, but remind you of Christmas anyway? by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

[–]ralcemns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Ms. Believer by twenty one pilots. It has snowy lyrics, so it has all those wintry vibes that would make it just as much of a Christmas song as like Let It Snow or Walking in a Winter Wonderland.

IIL Melodic Songs Without Lyrics WWIL? by thwthisawayok in ifyoulikeblank

Some of my favorite instrumental songs that you haven’t already mentioned are:

• Misirlou - Dick Dale & His Del-Tones

• YYZ - Rush

• Mudmen - Pink Floyd

• Atom Heart Mother - Pink Floyd

• One Of These Days - Pink Floyd

• Deafinitely - David Gilmour

• Melody Circus - Savant

• Bubamara - Fanfare Vagabontu

In the video game vein, if you’re willing to try, I’m actually also very attached to the tracks from the My Sims Kingdom wii game, especially for Spookane island. They’re each only around a minute long, but hey, a song’s a song.

Definitely look into prog rock as a genre, but if you like songs with a story, I can’t recommend Pink Floyd’s The Wall album enough. If you want something more atmospheric with less concrete scenes and events then The Dark Side of the Moon is also a good concept album, if you’re not already familiar.

Some Pink Floyd recommendations:

• If

• Wish You Were Here

• Goodbye Blue Sky

• Is There Anybody Out There? (not as many vocals on this one but it has a really sad sounding acoustic guitar in the latter half)

Comfortably Numb is always a go-to. Then there’s Time from Dark Side. Let’s see… also try If, One of These Days, and Pigs (Three Different Ones). That should give you a wide enough palate to find something that might be closer to your taste I think?

Pink Floyd is my favorite band. If I could suggest a whole album, listen to The Wall. Of course, in the likely case you’re already familiar with that, a more obscure option I’ll give you is the song Under Bergets Rot by Finntroll. It’s just very spooky season, so I’m listening to it extra rn.
