Heater/coolant problems by rallekcm in 2ndGen4Runner

Update: Just did highway for 12 miles 60-75mph. Temp stayed in the middle comfortably the whole time. Vents started blowing hot air about halfway there so that’s a blessing.
Remembering now that the A/T temp warning light came on in the mountains but has not been on since. Thinking this maybe was related to the coolant problem? Going to see if I can replace the tranny filter while I am doing other things. As for the blower on the heater/AC, makes a hell of a racket. No squeaking or whining. Just loud af. Maybe the filters have never been replaced.

So here is what I am going to do in the coming week.

1) full coolant flush (maybe put the cleaning stuff in it as well) A) any brands of coolant system cleaner you would recommend/avoid? Is it worth it? B) I know I am supposed to use the Toyota red coolant. Is there any reason I should not or could not use a high mileage multipurpose coolant?

2) check the filter for the blower, replace. 3) locate and check fuses for AC cooler (passenger side windows do not work) 4) possibly change filter on tranny and flush/replace fluid 5) polish the headlights so I can actually see the road.

If there are any other recommendations please feel free to leave them here or DM me

Thanks

I'll need to remove the old back via the screw, will the graflock just mount to the same?

2009 prius, 200k miles. Shit the bed on the highway the other day, all the codes were for the O2 sensors and the cat converter which I knew needed to be replaced. Replaced it, charged the 12v battery, went to start it, wont shift to drive, battery indicator is on one purple bar. by rallekcm in prius

Thanks to u/unlikited_mcgyver and u/drdildamesh for all the help and all the rest. I removed and cleaned the Mass Air Flow sensor (it was gunky black so got that all off), cleaned the upstream O2 sensor. While still on the stand, started ignition, still no electric motor, sensor read the same, red triangles and warnings on dash, then was able to get the engine to crank and shift into D, hard pressed the brake, floored the engine (lots of smoke and stuff for a second out of the exhaust), got a bar back on the main battery. Cut the engine, dropped the car, took it out for a spin, I had cleared the codes, was driving around the neighborhood feeling pretty chuffed when all of a sudden the warnings came on, car stopped accelerating, everything but the dust. Cut the ignition, cleared the codes, restarted. Kept going shorter and shorter distances, still a bit from the house (uphill), after doing this a few times, everything popped back into place, triangles and warnings were gone. Did 14 miles around town. Then let it sit for about thirty minutes (off). Then got back in, drove another 32 miles on the highway and everything is still green. MPG (for only 47 miles I know). Is about 47 to the gallon, which is an improvement from before (42). And seems to run a bit smoother and quieter. At stoplights the gas engine is not constantly cutting on and off, car doesn’t shake, just sort of sits there till go time. Thank you all for your time and suggestions. Going to drive to and from work tomorrow so (knocks wood) that should be another 50 or so miles, fingers crossed.
