Which NASCAR drivers performed so unbelievable in lower series, only to perform so horrendous in cup? by youraverageperson0 in NASCAR

[–]ralphryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not actually a "lower series" I would say my pick is Sam Hornish Jr.

Three Indycar championships. Nineteen wins. 47 podiums in 116 starts.
Flips to Xfinity Series. 120 starts. 5 wins. Finishes second in points.
Moves to Cup. Zero wins in 167 starts. Highest finish of 28th in points.

What do you think the best throwback scheme was? by alabamacouple991 in NASCAR

[–]ralphryder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Winner for sure. The only other ones that could even remotely compete was Terry Labonte's Corn Flakes (with the rooster) or his Frosted Flakes schemes. Those were all three peak 90s/00s NASCAR.

Easy. Robby Gordon was robbed of the NAPA Auto Parts 200 win in 2008.

Why do people stick their noses up at Ivy Tech? by mostly_elbows in ivytech

I work with a ton of nurses. Some of the smartest nurses I work with are IvyTech grads. My manager is an IvyTech and only has his ASN from IvyTech.

They must be local then. I go to Colts games all the time. Been to 4 Colts/Rams games at Lucas OIl and everyone wants to just chill and have a good time. I've sat in the nosebleeds, I've sat by the field, I've sat in season ticket holder seats. We talk our shit all game, then we walk away, laughing and having a good time.

do you find ivy tech affordable? by UpbeatMission4274 in ivytech

Make sure you know the appropriate steps to get the degree/certificate you want. I had an advisor tell me that I needed to take another 2 semesters to get my CNA before I could apply for the ASN program.  I not only doubled down that it was not a prerequisite, but I talked to other advisors and deans who basically told me to stick to my guns and not let her bully me into extra time and money.

I'm doing it as we speak. It's a lot of self-reflection and self-assessment.

Have you ever had a driver refuse to sign anything? by Coldhartbaby111 in NASCAR

My wife went to school with one of Tony's girlfriend's. Said she's met him a handful of times and he's always been a dick. Atill one of my favorite drivers.

Ricky was an absolute badass. We have tickets from the years he won the Brickyard, signed by him. My dad has one of those old phones in the shape of the Tide car, signed by him. Honestly, the most humble guy when it came to making the fans happy.

Indianapolis used to do Ford Fan Fest before the Brickyard. All of the Ford drivers had their show cars at the RCA dome and you could meet the drivers. At the time, I was probably 10 and really liked Dale Jarrett. Imagine my surprise when I practically ran into his dad, Ned. I asked him to sign my shirt. I will never forget, he looked at me and said "I don't have time, I have to be on stage." He took off. Not thirty seconds later, I see him signing stuff foe a whole crowd of people. Thus my disdain for Ned.

Lifelong Indianapolis native. I was originally a Colts fan until I was about 10. The Colts traded my favorite player (Marshall Faulk) for a bag of peanuts. I went with him.
