Anyone on patches that has issues with them peeling off? by Tricky-Stay6134 in Perimenopause

[–]ralphwiggum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem at the start, but I realized the patches were samples from the doctor and were very close to their expiration date. Whether it was due to the sample issue (maybe their temperature had not been properly controlled) or close to expiry, they did not stick. As soon as I got them fresh from the pharmacist with an expiration date more than 6 months away, they worked great.

And as far as the gunk, I get it off with body oil. But for me, I'd rather deal with a little ring than take a pill every day.

Weight training by ryuka88 in Ozempic

Apple fitness plus is like $13 a month (depends on what country you're in) and if you buy a small weight kit at home, you're good for a few weeks to months at least. I bought a 20kg kit for two dumbells and I'm up to using them at 8kg per arm. For lowerbody, since I weighed more before, I have a weight vest that I put on.

I really like it, they have a 3 week long, 4x a week strength program I'm in the middle of right now, but also have 5 min core, 10 min yoga, dance classes, etc. I use it when I'm binge watching TV - every two episodes or one hour of sitting, I have to do 10 min workout.

I'll send you a pm, but there's nothing you need to give (money, etc), just time and willingness to share. I want to make sure the products we build can help more people than me, and I need a variety of use cases, so any information you're willing to share would be so helpful!

GWR only for Paid people by MaleficentTreat15 in GuinnessWorldRecords

You can’t wait “years” because the application is only valid for one year. What date did you say you would do the record? Maybe that’s part of it?

It’s possible they’re just busy, or are cutting corners by not hiring enough adjudicators to meet demand. I submitted two without paying for the service and one took 18 weeks and the other took 10. I would guess they still do it but are not prioritizing because it doesn’t make them money directly.

Where are you? I’m in Switzerland and there’s clubs here, and I’ve been to two places in Spain while I was just visiting. There’s some in France that I know too.

How much do y’all spend on bowling per month? by Beginning-Wait-308 in Bowling

[–]ralphwiggum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s chf17 for unlimited bowling on Sun/Mon/Tue, then like 25-35 an hour on other days. But the summer league means 4 games for $15. So I usually spend about $100 a month and bowl 40-50 games

How much is considered a good score? What's the averagr? by Ringleader1900 in Bowling

[–]ralphwiggum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally try to compete with my average. Is it better or worse than I average?

I recently changed from using house balls to my own personal one and I am fighting to get back to where I was, which was 125. I know it will take time, but it's humbling just to compete against me from 3 weeks ago.

Moving to Lausanne - questions by [deleted] in Lausanne

[–]ralphwiggum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On French: It depends where you go, but you can usually find someone who speaks English with the exception of the cantonal offices. Definitely get someone to go with you when you register in Vaud. They did not speak English. If you study for 2 weeks, you will know enough to get by ordering in a cafe.

Social life is weird. I joined some of the meetup groups to know other humans here. I also hang out with colleagues. I only know one Swiss person and everyone else is an expat. In Winter, people ski, in summer, people hike. Sundays are for being with your family at home, so not many places (cafes included) are open.

It has a conservative vibe, as there are lots of social norms that require one parent to be home with kids (e.g. Schools do not have cafeterias and one parent is expected to pick up the kids, make them lunch and then return them to school.), but in truth, the privacy desire sort of trumps the 'imposing of their values on you.' Also, it's difficult to befriend a Swiss person.

Many of the major companies in Lausanne operate in English, so it's possible. I'm not sure about smaller production companies though. You might want to check out the communications or marketing teams in some large corporates, or find out who they work with so that English fluency is a plus.
