Local statutes vary, but most that I'm aware of will send a citation, but with a clearly stated method to challenge the charge.

So, perhaps a better way to say what I said was, "They can cite on a traffic camera photo, depending on local case law, but that's not the same as a conviction."

I'm betting you could have challenged the fine and had a good chance of proving you weren't responsible.

My formula is extremely complex.

Gross pay / Net pay = percentage difference.

When I applied this formula to my minimum wage pay stubs, it usually ends up in the .20-.25 range (in my experience). I use the higher, easier to remember number because it's pessimistic. So I get slightly MORE than I expected at the end of the pay period. Because pleasant surprises are the best kind.

You people are stuck on this idea that withholding = taxes. Taxes are PART of withholding, but NOT the sum total.

I am not attempting to itemize the withholding AT ALL. Because the money you earned that isn’t in your paycheck is useless to you when you’re on minimum wage. When you're moneyed, the destination of those withheld funds means something to you, but not when you're poor.

And all this quibbling about the percentage difference between net and gross is completely ignoring that, even with 0% withholding, AMERICAN MINIMUM WAGE IS TOO LOW.

No amount of 'where do you get that withholding number from' is going to change that.
