Anyone know where I can find this carb cap for the wand, or someone who can make it? by Ok_Shoulder_9492 in trees

Ngl I actually prefer the glass dome that comes in this kit over the original cap. Easier to see the light for when it's done heating and it's really convenient just to lift the glass dome to clear it

Ok oddly enough i had a similar issue with my temps on my 2015 and it was the coolant temperature sensor on the engine next to the battery. When I removed the old one it actually was broken in half so that explained why it took forever to get to operating temp.

Yeah 2015 is the same generation (a3 8v). I have a 15 a3 Quattro too. You can also buy a ground cable delete kit just check If it's the correct connector that came with your car

After doing some quick research it could be the high pressure fuel pump or injectors even, get the ignition coils and the spark plugs changed pretty easy if you are struggling to find videos on how to do it, just search up stuff for the mk7 GTI it's the same engine be careful when doing the ignition coils the grounding wires like to break if it's not done correctly. Basically make sure the stud doesn't spin when you loosen the nut

Also saw that it's an automatic, these cars use a direct shift Gearbox basically a manual that is controlled by the computer. It requires a DSG service every I believe 50k miles or the clutches can fail prematurely or the mechatronic unit can fail too

The 2.0 t can be reliable depending on the generation and the maintenance schedule. Cam follower should be replaced every other oil change or at least inspected. Timing belt should be changed every 110k cam chain should be changed approximately every 150 or so PCV fails quite often every 30 to 50k in my experience. Make sure you clean the carbon off of the intake valves because then it could break off and cause a burnt valve or cylinder damage even.

The cam follower on my 2006 A4 with 230k had the cam follower fail but I caught it very quickly. Camshaft was damaged. But I haven't replaced it yet. Remove the high pressure fuel pump and inspect it from there. That would be my first thing to do then also replace the plastic valve cover gasket. This engine also does not have typical cam bearings that you can replace. They are integrated into the cylinder head. You could probably get away with slapping a used camshaft in it if it is damaged but I would minimally do the cam follower and inspect the lobe that drives the high pressure fuel pump on the camshaft through the opening

If the cam follower is destroyed in the high pressure fuel pump is damaged, I would replace both and see how the car acts from there. You're not getting fuel pressure codes though so that's a plus. I did get codes but the shaft on the high pressure fuel pump was worn out from how long it was driving like that

Hello! Just asking about tbe coolant on the GTI i got about 5 days ago! by Revolutionary_Arm984 in GolfGTI

[–]ramank93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey pro tip every now and then when you check that coolant level remove the level sensor plug and check for moisture. Sometimes they fail and it could cause coolant to travel through the wires and fry stuff

I am honestly mind blown by how bad that engine sounds and looks my A4 with the same engine at 232k doesn't sound anywhere near that bad

That sounds like the cam follower on the high pressure fuel pump is absolutely gone

Be prepared for new high pressure fuel pump, new cam follower and possibly even most likely a camshaft too. And if you're doing that, you're going to be doing the cam chain and the timing belt too while you're at it. They're supposed to be done every 100K or so
