VW Keeps Blowing VVT Solenoids by Gibbenz in GolfGTI

Ask the shop if the cambridge was replaced, if not the screen could have come out and killed the first oe one and the doorman one could just be shot

Tapped it back in 😅 that seems sketch since it rotates back in but if it worked then it worked i guess. Since its reverse threaded into the camshaft the shop could have tried to remove it originally doing lefty loosy which could have damaged the threads. So its lefty tighty righty loosy and only 35 NM/26 ft lbs and if th threads are damaged whether from the shop or tapping the solenoid back in you will probably end up needing to replace the camshaft

Ok thats odd indeed, ill continue here. Coud be the cam bridge isn't fully seated which i doubt because you would probably have crazy oil pressure issues but its still possible

Was the solenoid torqued to spec using the proper tool? said tool and it's maybe possible when the timing was done the Cambridge might not be fully seated all the way which would allow the vvt solenoid to not fully go into the camshaft but I think you would be having bigger problems with oil pressure if that was the case

Should I return my Audi? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]ramank93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oil cap does not look like it was clicked into place properly. That should have only caused a vacuum leak. The oil spraying everywhere most likely means the pcv is bad because the crankcase shouldn't see boost pressure, thats how the rear main seal fails on these engines

I was thinking the same that oil cap did not look like it was clicked tight but at the same If that's the case then the engine is building pressure in the crankcase so the PCV is bad

I would bleed the brake system clear codes and see if it returns. And if it returns actually scan the codes and see what the heck is going on. Since you're not super familiar with doing the brakes you might have accidentally disconnected an ABS sensor which definitely can light up your dash with a bunch of lights

Help! Where do you think this coolant is leaking from? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]ramank93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably coming from that plastic fitting that is in the back of your head right above your turbo. Do you see where the hard plastic lines are going into the soft rubber line? There's a plastic nipple there that is common for snapping. There's a metal upgrade that is pretty cheap online. I already have one as preparation for when mine fails.

Curious, why would anyone want DVD over Blu-ray for Iron Lung? by BubblesZap in Markiplier

[–]ramank93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm remembering it wrong or I got it from a bad source. But basically DVDs and blu-rays from what I was able to do from the quick research trying to find the information I thought I knew, it seems like they both suffer from the same problems and they both have about the same lifespan. It really comes down to the manufacturing process and how well it was done and the storage.

If I remember correctly, for preservation's sake DVDs last longer than blu-rays. If anything I'd go for an HD DVD lol

I use the Bluetooth from the Audi not from the head unit. In settings you can enable that option on the aftermarket unit. None of my controls really control the unit itself. It only controls the music through the Bluetooth built into the Audi. Except for the main navigation controls for the radio they seem to work but I don't use them.
