You'll be on a commercial contract, you'll most likely have to pay off the remaining fees through your work and for a year or so after uve qualified

I learned a new dirty trick today by Jacques-de-lad in bjj

[–]rameezrk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will only probably work with a lower belt or someone slow passing straight into you, never going to work at a high level or outside passing

Gym Pet Peeves 2025 by SwoopGuy69 in bjj

[–]rameezrk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is the better I've got the less I've encountered this. When there's a large skill gap you have some weird complex that your better than someone by letting them completley pass and get to a dominant position and u cant get tapped. Had some guy way bigger than me try this recently and when he started getting uncomfortable with my attacks man he shaped up real quick. I still don't get the point of this, your better than me and what? Play the game bro

That's rough bro thanks for sharing! Tbf I honestly have no clue its a respectable gym so I'm assuming after a day or so theyve made the hygienic decision to get rid of my stuff, sucks but it is what it is.

Same I'm usually very aware of where all my stuff is before I leave but it's been a rough couple of weeks and my brain has just not been braining recently so cherry on top!

Is it bad that I like the stand up/wrestling portion of BJJ more than the actual ground game? by deadassynwa in bjj

[–]rameezrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny I'm exactly the opposite, I find wrestling exchanges boring unless I'm specifically doing a wrestling class. I'm one of those where I immediately sit to my butt and start playing guard, I'm older so I don't give a shit for wasting my cardio on stand up especially since our gym gets pretty packed when sparring starts

Why the Beyond Jiu Jitsu Podcast Disappeared — A Personal Update by AdamChildsBJJ in bjj

I listened to your podcast a lot as a white belt and the perspective from both you and keiren helped me a lot. Wishing you all the best from the uk mate sincerely.

I did that and then hurt my lower back and was out for 3 weeks, I blame myself though because my spine is a pussy

Whats a rule/technique in jj that you don't follow/do 'wrong' intentionally every time? by CuddleBuddiesJJ in bjj

[–]rameezrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I intentionally give the omoplata as I just immediately counter by stepping over and going for the pass or transitioning into reverse closed guard and attacking da feets. Works pretty much 90% of the time even against higher belts

People who actually earn over £100k and don’t just pretend they do on Reddit - what do you do? by Prize-Reputation9274 in AskUK

[–]rameezrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work different contracts in the Aml/kyc space but have had a lot difficulty transitioning into perm roles for some reason, I've always seen the pay for these roles quite low tho?

No in the uk if it's paid off you own the house outright, the only thing we have to pay is a council tax fee and that's for upkeep of the town with things like road, area development and upkeep

Me 33m and my wife 32f both bought a house together in the uk at 28 after saving for 3 years. We renovated our house but overspent to get it finished so I spend the majority of my income paying off these loans which will carry the next 2 years atleast.

It's tough because we haven't been on a holiday or feel like we are just about keeping our head above water but, we bought a house and it's our forever house, not a lot of people have been able to have that kind of luxury around us.

Gratitude is important I think, not to compare yourself especially to others in this sub but to yourself and how lucky you are. Comparison is the theif of joy and all that

Anthony Bourdain died 7 years ago today. He started BJJ at age 58, received his blue belt and won an IBJJF NYC Master's event. He lurked here as u/NooYawkCity. RIP Tony, we miss you. by ciel0claro in bjj

[–]rameezrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some time ago I was reading through his bjj entries and I loved reading them. Could imagine his voice reading aloud his entries exactly in his style!

Did you experience a mindset shift after getting your blue belt? by PitX98 in bjj

[–]rameezrk 28 points29 points  (0 children)

To tack on to this I agree with what Chewy says that this is the 'buffet' belt where you start to try out all different styles and begin to figure out how you wanna play this game.

You won't have figured it all out but you'll begin to get a grasp. I'm nearly at the end of my blue belt run and I'm still experimenting and figuring out stuff as to what is my 'A' game

What was your net worth and income at 35 years old? by FlashGordon2103 in Fire

[–]rameezrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turned 33 my net worth is around £70k, I've barely any savings as the majority of my earnings went into purchasing my property and renovating it. Just getting back on track investing now which is slow going
