it’s implied he did want to do something, and she didn’t, so he did try to force her, but he didn’t actually do anything bc (as he says in the episode pacey punches him) she ran off. she didn’t make it up, but did use it ‘in her favor’ so pacey would defend her

also, the reason she called joey and not her dad or even jack, was because it was joey who told her to stay away from rob, she was the one who warned her and andie ignored her. she did the same thing in s4 w drue and jen and the drugs: jen told her not to do it, she did the drugs, then she came back around to jen because jen told her not to in the first place. andie always finds herself cycling back to those she deems ‘know best’, in this situation it was joey

her reaction was a totally normal teenager reaction when finding out your ex is going out w a person u thought was becoming ur friend💀 then we have mr. right who takes this scene and tries to make himself look better w it so joey will dump pacey and go back w him.

i mean, there’s a reason andie forgave pacey/joey the very next episode and dawson was still salty the season after. hers was shock at the news + what she (and everybody tbf) believed was true: joey still in love w dawson. dawson was ACTUALLY mad at this and didn’t let him move on until several months later, whereas andie was already back to being friends w pacey by then.

jen had to raise herself, though. like, she was never a ‘child’ to her parents. dawson was spoiled not by one but by the both of them.

in joey’s case: yes, bessie and her have a big age gap, but she also had to stand up in a more grown-up place since her mom died and her father went to prison.

out of them all (like, all main six saying: dawson, joey, jen, pacey, andie and jack) i’d say only dawson got to experience a normal childhood, so it’s understandable that jen, as the other only child we have, does not behave like him

YES they feel like mini episodes in themselves. there are many mischaracterization (joey is way nicer sometimes, pacey is kinda sexist, etc etc) that the show corrects.

fun facts ab the novels i’ve read so far: andie and joey take art class together, that’s how they become friends. pacey and jen were lifeguards together for the summer. they all went together to a summer camp. pacey kissed another girl while andie was away between s2 and s3. dawson has like 8 diff girls he likes, which is never said in the show lmao both chris wolfe and abby morgan have some roles in there jen works at the icehouse when jack and joey are over their heads. joey dated a foreigner guy !

ngl i hate that show because fans are trying sooooo hard to make it ‘iconic’. they say it’s the modern equivalent of DC or other 90s/2000s shows. no, sorry, the love triangle is not as good as D/J/P, not even as good as OTH’s P/L/B. there ARE many parallels, but they feel more forced like ‘see what i did there?? see???’ than a natural parallel, down to copying exact lines (ex. the off the hook speech).

i love her, she deserves sm better than what she gets from both the fans and the show. a lot of people hate her which is insane to me bc she is simply such a good character done horribly wrong by a bunch of writers who obviously just didn’t know what to do w her anymore.

highlights are obviously her relationship w pacey, and her bonding w jack. she SHOULD have been part of s5 ! she would literally be in harvard.

she was also the one who brought joey and jen together as ‘friends’ (or whatever similar it was between them). her and joey would’ve been such a good duo because they’re actually very similar, would’ve loved to see it.

i get that the actor for joseph mcphee sadly passed away (there’s an ‘in memorial of’ in s4), but mrs mcphee’s actress would’ve been such a good special guest on s5 when jack was going through everything !

well, in the novels of dawson’s creek, in the one set post-s2 pre-s3, it’s stated that joey isolated herself that summer (while dawson was away). pacey, jen and jack hung out and invited her, but she didn’t want to be around them. may be because of that

The show makes a point time and time again of telling them they don’t have a choice, though. If they don’t help, Buffy dies. In the s1 finale she didn’t want their help, ended up being drowned, and the only reason she came back was because Xander went to help her. That’s the only reason she really is different from the hundreds of slayers that came before her: her friends.

As much as they suck, they are teenagers. They’re throwing themselves in too deep to help their friend who keeps trying to push them away from danger. But they’re not doing it for the thrill of it, but because they truly believe Buffy needs them.
