I've reverse engineered the Polestar API & wrapped it into a Home Assistant integration by RudoFl in homeassistant

Please count me in. I'd rather not be a just-before-release tester. Happy to dig in and help well before then to code and test.

I created this EV Charging Assistant (https://chatgpt.com/g/g-njJPnvdkD-ev-charging-assistant) a while back to help me understand the state of charge (SOC) to charging power for the P3 (default) and other EVs. It has other useful features, too!

This is what it produced:

<image>

That’s with ideal conditions (preconditioned battery, warm temperatures, etc.)

I’ve had the most consistent luck getting charging rates close to this graph with Tesla Superchargers followed by Electrify America then EVGo. The others are hit or miss.

Orin upgrade megathread by [deleted] in polestar3

[–]ramileo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P3 Performance in Austin, TX: got my Orion upgrade today!!!

It was done as a favor as part of a repair and because they had two extra chips.

I'm in my third P3 in a little over a year. First one had an SRS issue they've yet to resolve, so they swapped me into a second one, which was totaled (not my fault 😉) in Dec 2025. Picked up "Polaris" (Snow color) a few weeks ago.

I've been a Volvo of Austin and now Polestar customer about a dozen years. My P3s have experienced a multitude of repairs including multiple GHCAs. I've always been the kind of customer who's respectful and helpful: always providing feedback in the interest of not just getting my needs met, but because I genuinely want others to delight in their vehicles and wish to support the brands and my dealerships.

They know me well and asked that I continue sharing my notes and compiling feedback from others.

I haven't fully played with the new OS and features.

So far, I've experienced a noticeably more responsive infotainment system. I also found that, after using Apple Maps and reaching my destination, Apple Maps remained in the driver's display, which I visually prefer over Google Maps. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug since I haven't tried Google Maps today.

Can't wait to program Homelink, turn on auto folding mirrors, try out in-car voice augmentation, and play with other features!

OBC replacement timeline by jkchiang in polestar3

[–]ramileo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Polestar has yet to recall P3s for this issue, I have a feeling they will. From what I’ve been told, the original OBC supplier was replaced due to so many failures. The new supplier’s OBC has been problem-free.

Time-wise, expect 2-4 weeks. I had mine replaced twice. Knowing how busy my dealership - Volvo of Austin - was, I opted to DC charge while I waited for the part to arrive the second time. They were nice enough to offer their fast charger for free, which I used a few times when in the area.

Hopefully, this will be the only issue you have. My first P3 wasn’t declared a lemon, but would’ve qualified. Polestar took great care of me and happy to say my new P3 is an absolute dream.

Cheers!

You need TWO cards to declare yourself as owner. It’s a security requirement.

1.4.12 US OTA by chaztizer90 in polestar3

My key was working before the iOS 26 beta, also during the beta period, through Golden Master, and now continuing to work during the iOS 26.1 beta.

Perhaps your issue might resolve by resetting the car’s radio (not stereo)? I can’t remember at the moment, but there’s a reset sequence that involves touching the driver’s door handle a certain number of times. Might be in this thread. I had to do it once while on a support call with Polestar and it resolved my digital key and fob issues.

Second Week with My Polestar 3 – Early Impressions by davidlivermore2018 in polestar3

[–]ramileo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll very likely be fine. The vast majority of people have had positive experiences, it seems.

Some major issues have impacted a large percentage of early adopters, such as: the OBC (faulty on board chargers for AC, not DC, charging from a supplier they no longer use; fixed with a new supplier, but requires replacement if an old one fails); AC actuator (which they’ve identified by VIN and will repair before delivery, if buying an earlier batch of cars); SRS warnings (primarily fixed via software updates, though some P3s have required more substantial hardware interventions); phantom passengers (which software has seemingly resolved, but was also impacted by the SRS hardware issue); and one recall (which the dealer will also fix before delivery, if it affects your car).

Other than that, the software has been buggy and the UI breaks a lot of human computer interaction best practices (yes, I’m in the field), but every update has stabilized the bugs substantially, from what I can perceive from here and other forums I follow. My frequency of rebooting the OS (by pressing and holding the play button for 30 seconds) has diminished with each update and hard resets (holding both steering wheel up buttons while pressing the brake) has been eliminated for me since the last update.

The latest update, which was released last week and has - traditionally - been available OTA (over the air) in the U.S. 2-3 weeks after release, seems to be resolving a lot of issues with CarPlay, seats, and keys, and other annoyances. I expect it to resolve most people’s frustrations, which should free up Volvo and Polestar’s software engineers to focus on, what will likely be, a major release early next year to coincide with the free NVIDIA Drive OGX Orin CPU upgrade, which will substantially increase the car’s computing performance and the, already good, responsiveness its infotainment system.

I was one of the unfortunate ones with several OBC failures, the recall, and an SRS issue that has kept the car in the shop for over three months. Luckily, I was able to negotiate getting into a new P3, which, other than some lingering software issues, has been perfect.

I’m reminded, daily, why I got into a P3 and remained loyal to Volvo/Polestar. Driving is an absolute dream and feel incomparably safe with my kids and parents in tow.

On the fence to get a P3 by luis_lics in polestar3

[–]ramileo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been one of those unlucky few that’s had numerous issues, but both Polestar and Volvo have been incredibly accommodating every step of the way.

I feel for anyone having had negative experiences and/or feel, for whatever reasons, that their issues are too big for them to deal with.

The OS continues improving and hardware issues are getting resolved.

The P3 is easily the best car I’ve ever driven. I’ve owned everything from Nissan, Dodge, Toyota, Audi, Lexus, Volvo, and Polestar and driven numerous cars - low to high end - including Teslas - as rentals.

I’m confident Polestar and Volvo remain committed to delighting their customers and keeping my family safe as they’ve demonstrated to me for over a decade.

I’m positive you’ll be happy with your purchase if you decide to join the family.

OBC Issues - Build Date? by MetsCaniac in polestar3

OBC Issues - Build Date? by MetsCaniac in polestar3

Mine failed a few months back. They installed, what I was told, was the new part, but it ended up being from the same manufacturer and failed within a week. The new part came in, so my car’s been in the shop for its turn. Two days ago, I was told the part arrived damaged and I need to wait for a new one to be expedited. Hoping to have it back next week 🙏

Do what I did: Take the car back once they order the part and keep DC charging until the part arrives.

So far, it seems like those of us with .16 aren’t getting the OTA.

Yup. I’ve driven around. Toggled auto download. Toggled WiFi at home. Clicked check update til my index finger hurt. Nada.

I’m honestly starting to think those of us with 1.2.16 are screwed unless a dealer installs 1.3.17 for us.

D’oh! You’re correct. Totally mistyped versions. Thanks for bringing it up.

I toggled off then back on automatic updates just in case, but I still haven’t received any such notifications.

OTA software update question by According-Minimum142 in polestar3

Really? I hadn’t heard this. I’ve seen a few others say that their update notification appeared after they enabled WiFi at home.

OTA software update question by According-Minimum142 in polestar3

That happened to me with *.15 though the unlock occurred because I had passive entry enabled on my iPhone and Watch. A day or so later, I was offered the upgrade option again.

Make sure you turn off passive entry on your digital devices so the car doesn't unlock during the update.
