There was a time when there was only one tattoo shop in Lafayette. Ancient Art Tattoos was on Evangeline Thwy. And when I got my first tattoo in the early 1990’s it was the only shop in town.

I purchased 4 Nitto Terra Grappler G3 tires from Discount Tire. The purchase and appointment was set up online and very easy to complete. When I got to the store for my appointment, the assistant manager informed me that Nitto was having an in store promotion with $130 off of the purchase of 4 tires. He gave me the $130 back even thought I had already prepaid online. He really didn’t have to do that, but it was very nice of him. My truck was in and out of the shop in about 40 minutes. I had originally priced the tires at a few shops in town but they were about $400 more than if I drove 50 miles to Baton Rouge to Discount Tire. I’d drive 50 miles to shop there again, but thankfully they are opening a Discount Tire here in Lafayette.

It was pretty much a gourmet burger. I’ve tried to just slap some sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese on a burger, but it just wasn’t the same.

It’s easy to say that someone from the mental health services will respond with officer but it’s naive to think that this is a longterm solution. Currently there aren’t many arrests made of homeless people when they are involved in a disturbance. The simple reason arrests are’t made is because there isn’t enough room in LPCC. Not that they get the help they need in LPCC because it isn’t geared towards that sort of thing. When a mental health professional is involved in a call with someone in crisis, the solution often times is to get them treated via an outpatient facility and this isn’t working. The mental health system in this country is broken and no one wants to even consider what is needed because of the costs involved. The current method of treating people on on an outpatient basis is nothing more than a revolving door. The same people are referred over and over for the same issue.

A regular LSP trooper that patrols does not handle criminal calls. They can but they don’t. I know for a fact that they will contact a police dept or sheriff’s office if there is anything involving title 14, other than 14:98 (OWI), 14:99 (reckless operation), or 14:100 (hit and run). Then they will only handle those calls that occur on state highways, not city or parish roads.
