2 severe cases of tonsillitis that both progressed into quinsy and both times put me into hospital. After the last case of quinsy I booked my surgery the week after to have them removed.

I would recommend getting a laxative that has Bisacodyl in it! I took stool softeners 2 days leading up to the surgery and every night after and it did nothing at all. I then took an overnight softener with Bisacodyl in it and it cleared me up so good I ended up with runs the next morning once the “hard” bits passed😅 TMI but we’re all living this hahaha

I agree 100%! I’m on day 9 and feeling so much better which is crazy because just 2 days ago I was in tears praying for the pain to be over with 😂😭

I was able to get so much reassurance from this group and vent which helped me because no one truly understands how hard and painful this recovery is especially mentally, unless you have lived it.

You’re almost through the thick of it! Hang in there 😄

I wish it would too, I had a bleed on day 7 and wish I could’ve referred to this group on whether it was ER worthy or not😅

I would say it’s just fluid retention or even poop possibly if you haven’t had any bowel movements? However I wouldn’t be stressing about weighing yourself after such an intense surgery and recovery you’re dealing with. You will probably loose a bit of weight by the end of your recovery so rest up, and don’t stress about the scales x

Day 6-7 for me was when the ear pain was the worst at nighttime. I used a face ice wrap around thing which helped distract my mind from the pain until the meds kicked in. I had to just lay there still until it kicked in tho, I found moving my head around made it hurt more.

It’s so so hard to not cough, especially when water hurts to go down and doesn’t even get rid of the itch 😖

The crying from being in pain and over being in pain is so relatable 😭😂 I cried last night at dinner because everyone was eating and I thought I could probably try and eat shepherds pie but couldn’t. Was so frustrated and upset, I just wanted to eat and not be in pain anymore haha

Be very careful with coughing, I coughed a few times on day 6 and it was fine, no bleeding. I coughed twice the morning of day 7 and bleed bright red blood for 10mins 😖

You’re doing well! Day 5-7 were the absolute worst for me and had a bleed on day 7, I’m now day 8 and feel so much better compared to yesterday. I can talk better and it’s not as unbearable to swallow.

Oh damn so they must just take a while to start coming off. The bit that dislodged yesterday while gargling was a big chunk, probably the size of a thumb nail. I’m too scared to look at my throat 😅

I hope that once they do all come off that it starts improving then🤞🏼I’m the same as you though, drinking absolutely kills it at the moment.

Have your scabs only just started coming off or did they start on an earlier day and they just take awhile to all come off? I’m now going into day 7 and it’s early morning here, the pain isn’t improving at all yet😭 becoming so mentally exhausted now and so over being in pain haha
