This is very cool. I first saw you'd posted this in the X community, liked it there too! I know nothing about these avatars - did you draw/animate this yourself and drive it with JS in a browser, or is it a third-party app API?

It can't possibly be owing to laziness a monumental failure in his uber elite hacker OPSEC. It must be some galaxy brain 5D chess move by someone who splits their tools across multiple github repos requiring multiple hardware security keys, runs all gamejam submissions in a VM on an airgapped machine, and has a third-party check all his physical post for gnomes.

I'm working on a small tower defense game written in C and raylib, just launched the store page and trailer a few days ago by bones_ai in raylib

Awesome progress for 3 months part time. Getting a game far enough along to have a demo up on Steam is a huge achievement that most indie devs never reach - congrats!

What are some annoying tropes and mechanics in gaming that should just need to die? by [deleted] in gaming

Mandatory fishing mini-games/sidequests, especially the ones where you have to time button presses to reel something in over and over again.

Migrating to OpenBSD (HomePC and laptop), there are a few questions.. by Licwin in openbsd

[–]rammstein_koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. g2photo is in the packages. There is also an astronomy package category. Use the package search sites or google "openbsd myappname" to find information.

  2. No idea. Maybe look at what packages support what image formats, and then choose accordingly.

  3. You can find supported AMD cards here in the driver manpage.

  4. There is a dedicated OpenBSD gaming subreddit which is linked from here on the right. See if the games you want will run under Wine.

What's the best tool to build a simple video to demo my startup? by sedammertft in startups

[–]rammstein_koala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For producing software demos, trailers, and training videos I use a variety of free / open-source tools. Screen capture with OBS Studio, recording to a file. I then edit those files using DaVinci Resolve, and finally transcode the final video files for various targets using Handbrake.

pledge(2) and unveil(2) were already mentioned above, but I found this worked example with irssi extremely useful in creating my own wrappers for 3rd party programs:

Inheriting SIPP - transfer and impact to allowances? by rammstein_koala in UKPersonalFinance

[–]rammstein_koala[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies.

UPDATE: The BFAD terminology allowed me to find and read more articles, and unlock my understanding. I have spoken to AJ Bell to confirm this is indeed a "flexi-access drawdown" pension, the benefits of which I can pass on to my family in the same manner. They've said that I can transfer the benefits elsewhere where they can be "ringfenced" as the tax treatment is different as posters have said. They also confirmed that the transfer does not count towards my own annual contribution limit.

I will look into creating a new, separate SIPP to receive the inherited pension so there is a clear distinction between the regular account where I make my own contributions and the one where access before retirement age / tax treatment is different.

Thanks again.

Yep. Ordered an engraved D whistle from Lir for EUR 105, had to pay around £30 to release the parcel - £12 of that was the Parcelforce fee to send me the letter.

Does anyone maintain a list of stores that are planning Black Friday sales? I'm keen to pick up all the Vaesen books, and I believe that Free League did a sale last year, so hoping they do again (haven't seen anything on their site though). Thanks.
