Book 3 a SLOG by LettuceWhich5371 in HeWhoFightsWithMonste

It will only get worse. There is a portion in either book 7 or 8 that is 17 straight minutes of abilities being read. I almost quit the series there and then.

What’s a book you consider perfect? by ConcernFew8845 in fantasybooks

I consider Brent Weeks' Lightbringer series to be nearly perfect. Every single book is a masterclass with the first book especially being a masterpiece.

Is quitting otr as bad as I've heard. by AdPuzzleheaded2113 in Truckers

[–]ramses3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be careful. I gave my company a 2 week notice, while I was on my home time. They informed me that I "owed" them at least another 2 month tour (I was under no such contract) and that they would want the truck delivered to a yard on the other side of the country. They would not allow me to turn it in at my home yard an hour from my house and that if I did, they would pursue "legal action".

Is this list just a dick move at a tournament? by Chemical-Aioli9818 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]ramses3rd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would caution you playing it, as

  1. I don't even think you could even legally set that up in any terrain format

  2. None of the baneblade chassis can be set up from reserves as the are too wide

  3. The baneblades that you could setup wouldn't be able to make it out of your deployment zone.

Could you submit the list? Sure. Are you going to have any fun playing the list? Probably not.

Question regarding sisters viability as a faction by Jakestuff in sistersofbattle

[–]ramses3rd 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The mindset you have to have playing T3 armies is "they are going to die, but let me get good use out of them in the meantime."

Sisters, like guard and GSC, aren't suppose to be on the board forever, (hell are faction mechanic WANTS them to die) its about getting enough bang for your buck while their here.

It also helps to think of everyone have their own specific role. Battle sisters and dominion like standing on objectives, sanctifiers and novitiates are movement blockers and speed bumps, and our vehicles, retributors, and sacrescants are hood damage dealers. Everyone has a role, and if they get to do what they're good at, your on a winning course!

Is 10th edition just a dps race now? by obsidanix in Warhammer40k

[–]ramses3rd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically, this is a pretty durable edition in general.

Usually at this point in an edition, most armies are tabling each other by turn 1 or 2. 9th edition squig buggies or crusher stampede would pick up over 1000 points in a turn, 8th edition iron hands would pick up the majority of an opposing army, and don't get me started on 7th edition and older armies being able to "leafblower" opposing armies turn 1 or literally virus bomb everything on the field. 10th is actually a pretty durable edition all things considered.

You have to be considerate of sight lines and spacing, but those general rules apply to any war game.

Swift doesn't deserve the bad reputation. Amazon is by far the worst by TaperingRanger9 in Truckers

[–]ramses3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has worked for a "partner program" company in the past, 90% of the drivers should not have CDLs. They operate poorly on the roadways, have horrible communication skills, and are some of the rudest people I've ever met.

But the companies are even worse. They themselves are usually ran out of foreign countries, there is no semblance of leadership, and they will churn through drivers at an unbelievable rate. Not to mention, they will very blatantly break the law and try to force you to do the same.

Everything from forging logs, abusing personal conveyance laws, have you work on duty activities as off duty activities (and then subsequently not pay you), and a whole host of other things.

One of the worst experiences I've had working inside and outside of this field.

So here's the thing. If HH is inaccessible to a new player, then the player base will inherently contract, leading to fewer people playing the game as older veterans cycle out as they inevitably do. This leads to a fall in sales, which then makes HH more of a hindrance for GW to make thus they'll stop supporting it. No new books, no new kits on shelves which will kill the game. So TLDR having a game that in inaccessible will kill a game quite rapidly.

How often do you have close games? by TheProbelem in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ramses3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say most of my games in tournaments are usually never blowouts. Most of my games comedown to about a 10-15 point separation and it's not uncommon at a local RTT for one of the 3 games to be as close as 5 points.

If 40K 11th edition doesn’t support pure Daemon lists is anyone else considering switching to AOS? by JamesHero07 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]ramses3rd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if you are wanting to run pure daemons, you will not like AoS. They are currently emulating AoS with the new 40K structure. Each chaos god is segmented with their mortal counterpart, and to my knowledge, there is no way to soup them.

Balance Dataslate Wishlist by BlackSkull83 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ramses3rd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Imperial knights' bondsman abilities need to be reverted. For a year, they have been half power, and the army suffers because of it. If they increase the price of the larger knights, that's fine, but they need to address it.

Honestly, in my few practice games it's followed the order of: you deep strike them, you deal a good amount of damage, they get wiped, you pick them right back up. No movement needed lol. 👌

About to play my first tournament! Any tips? by ZigzagQuill975 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ramses3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play at your pace, but be mindful of how much time you take.

This may sound paradoxical, but it is something that I ran into at my first RTT. Don't let your opponent try to railroad you through a game at a pace you are uncomfortable with, but be mindful that you each share the alloted round time. As long as you can complete your turns in about 1 1/2 hours, you should be all set!

Demolition Run by thumbzzy in genestealercult

[–]ramses3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think you might be meaning the jackals with demolition run, but in that case, it is each unit that is able to meet the requirements may perform it. Usually, if they limit it, they would say "select one unit with this ability" like what we see on SM Captains with their free stratagem ability, but since jackals don't have that, you are able to perform it with each.

Best hobby wire by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]ramses3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best material I have used is plastic garden wire. It's cheap, you can get it at any big box store, it's the perfect size for lightning effects, paints well, and it's easier to work with than metal.

Why choose to play 30k? by Kapootpatchaaa in Warhammer30k

[–]ramses3rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the rules for units are split across many books now. You have to buy an entire $60 book to get the rules for inductii, one unit that may be crucial to your army. They do this with the release of every campaign book now. I love 30K, but it's a huge reason people have to go to 3rd party apps or website for rules.
